Classic Cunard hallmarks weave throughout Queen Mary 2: sweeping staircases, soaring public rooms, a Grand Ballroom, a 360 degree promenade deck. With one staff member per couple, Cunard's renowned White Star ServiceSM is also assured. The most anticipated ocean liner in the world also comes with an unprecedented cache of luxuries and innovations. Three-quarters of her staterooms have balconies. Lavish two-story duplexes even have their own private exercise equipment. Exciting restaurants like Todd English and Cunard's renowned Grills create the premier dining experience at sea. A space ratio of 57.25 makes her one of the roomiest vessels anywhere. Even that can't prepare you for the endless possibilities which occupy all this space - 14 decks of sports facilities, shops, bars, lounges, 5 pools and no fewer than 10 restaurants, a largesse which allows you the freedom to experience your own preferences and passions. Rejuvenate at the celebrated Canyon Ranch SpaClub®. Or how about the classic British deck game of quoits? Try something novel. Learn something new! Cunard ConneXionsSM is almost like a college at sea, taking into account, of course, that you're on vacation. Or take a virtual ride into space at IlluminationsSM.
Discover the Luxury of 'You' Time
No other ship has ever offered quite the enticing range of activities and delights from which to fill your day. Browse the wares of fashionable boutiques like Hermes and Swarovski in the Mayfair Shops. Attend a stimulating seminar and lectures by distinguished experts through our Cultural Enrichment Programme, or a dramatic performance with actors from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Cunard Insights, our academy at sea, presents computer classes, writing workshops, and other enlightening offerings, while the only Canyon Ranch SpaClub at sea provides luxurious treatments that will reinvigorate your body and spirit. There's the largest Library at sea and the Planetarium, state-of-the-art workout facilities and refreshing swimming pools.
But don't forget you are sailing, for some of the most memorable times will be those times on deck, spent reading, talking with other guests, or simply watching the sea pass by.
Queen Mary 2's top decks offer an array of active pursuits, including two pools (both covered and open), a golf simulator and putting green, paddle tennis, basketball, shuffleboard and much more for you to choose from.
Dining: A Grand Occasion
Dining has always been the centerpiece of any Cunard voyage, a celebration where superb culinary creations are proudly served by waiters trained in the fine art of Cunard White Star Service. Make a sweeping entrance all dressed up in your finery, take your seat, browse our inspiring menus and enjoy our most delicious dining traditions.
There is a team of outstanding chefs and 10 dining venues in all, including the innovative Mediterranean cuisine of the Todd English restaurant. As with the custom of ocean liners in the past, each Queen Mary 2 stateroom is matched with a reserved table at a sea-view restaurant, complemented by the largest wine selection afloat. Of course, you can always make reservations at one of the many optional dining alternatives. Or don't dine out - dine in! Room service is available 24 hours a day - complimentary of course!
Queens Grill Restaurant:
Queen Mary 2's most sumptuous suites command their own reserved table in the elegant, single-seating Queens Grill restaurant. When it comes to exclusive luxury touches, our Queens Grill Experience is in a league of its own.
Princess Grill Restaurant:
If you're staying in one of the P categories, savor the sublime creations of the Princess Grill. Cunard's Grill restaurants have been long acclaimed by food critics as the finest dining experience at sea.
Britannia Club
This club-like private salon serves guests in our Britannia Club category. This intimate single-seating dining room offers special a la carte selections in addition to the succulent Britannia Restaurant menu, with personalized White Star Service.
Britannia Restaurant
Make a grand descent down the sweeping staircase of the splendid, three-deck-high Britannia Restaurant, Queen Mary 2's main dining room, reminiscent of the opulent dining salons of the past.
Todd English
Enjoy delectable Mediterranean cuisine. Owner of the internationally famous Olives of Boston among others, Todd English, is one of America's leading chefs. He received the Robert Mondavi Award for Culinary Excellence and was named one of the "Top 50 Tastemakers" by Nation's Restaurant News. Reservations are required and a surcharge applies at this popular restaurant.
Kings Court
You can enjoy a casual breakfast, lunch or late-night buffet in Kings Court. At night it is transformed into four intimate dining venues: Lotus, with a tasting of multinational Asian cuisines, the Carvery, with British-style carved roasts, La Piazza with authentic Italian cuisine and the Chef's Galley, where guests can enjoy an interactive experience as the chef reveals culinary secrets before their very eyes. Reservations are required.
Golden Lion Pub
Fine lagers, ales and pub snacks are served in this charming British pub where you can enjoy a pint. There's even a traditional Pub Lunch served every day, with classic favorites such as fish & chips and cottage pie.
Sir Samuel
Sir Samuel's is a coffee bar by day and a wine bar by night. Enjoy breakfast selections of Danish and muffins. Afternoon offerings include a selection of freshly baked quiches and a variety of sandwiches, with a side of salad. The mid-afternoon menu offers a selection of deep dish cheesecakes, Alsace Apple Tart, and Austrian Sacher Torte. Evening brings a selection of fine wines, served with a side of olives and a variety of cheese.
Boardwalk Cafe
Enjoy lunch at this casual eatery near the Sun Deck pool - in your swim wear if you choose.
Queens Room
A proper British Afternoon Tea can be taken in the Queens Room. Naturally it's served with fresh scones, fresh pastries, finger sandwiches and our legendary white glove service.
It may be nighttime that most sets the Queen Mary 2 experience apart from other cruise lines. For where else will you attend such dazzling affairs as a Black and White Captain's Ball, Ascot Ball or Pirates Ball - all in a setting as stunning as the Queens Room? This Queen's Royal Nights are simply lavish - and you are on the guest list. Or, catch a staged musical production, or perhaps a bit of Shakespeare performed by actors from London's RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art), in the Royal Court Theatre. You may want to save time for the Empire Casino, or put on your dancing shoes at G32 nightclub. Gentleman Dance Hosts on every Cunard voyage ensure that even ladies traveling alone have a dancing partner.
But there are also options for those seeking simpler pleasures in an evening. Like fine wine and quiet conversation at Sir Samuel's, a flute of bubbly at Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar, jazz in the Chart Room or lounge tunes and ambience in the Commodore Club. And, of course, there is ale and ample cheer at the Golden Lion Pub.

B2, cabin was great. Lots of electrical outlets, very plush towels. The sheltered balcony was actually more usuable that a traditional, open balcony, because it wasn't windy and was protected from rain.

| COMMENTS: |
If you are contemplating sailing on the QM2, do it! There were many passengers wearing QM2 clothing or carrying QM2 gear -- you don't typically see an individual ship inspire that kind of passenger devotion. The sheltered balcony was much more usable than the open balconies that we've had on earlier cruises. I would recommend the sheltered balcony, especially on a transatlantic crossing. |
