Very disappointed in the food. Very poor selection and freestyle cruising is not the way to go. Speciality resturants were booked solid from the first day (for the whole week) something we never knew we could do. So therefore we tried the regular resturants and the food selection was very poor. I didnt go on a cruise to eat fried pork chops or a turkey dinner etc.

Very poor...no communications about most activities..if you werent in the area you would never know they took place.

Beautiful ship but thats as far as it went. I will NEVER go on NCL again. My other cruises were on Carnival, Princess and Celebrity and they were all great vacations. And NCL tries top sell freestyle cruising but I dont feel they will admit it aint working...so we will see them go downhill year after year.

Avoid NCL cruise lines..this is the only bad cruise I have had in 14 times...Freestyle cruising will stay with NCL..I'm sure the other cruise lines wont follow if they talk to people that have experienced this. |

Service was slow in main dining room. Esp. liked the French restaurant. Food was good to very good on the whole ship.

Somewhat difficult to get reservations in alternate restaurants but very pleased with the food in general and excellent service.

We prefer sitting on our balcony but we did have a little fun in the casino.

If you want to eat at the alternate restaurants make reservations the first day . Don't show up at a restaurant when it opens at 530pm and avoid the crowd . Be sure to eat at La Cucina . Wait 3 days for a 20% discount in the spa. |

Food was average although lobstair tails were some of the best we've ever had on a ship. Couldn't get into specialty restaurants because we didn't make reservations right away. Didn't know the Italian restaurant (La Cucina) wasn't a surcharge restaurant or else would've booked it for several nights right away. Hard to know when you first board what you are going to be doing for the next 9 evenings and when. Wait times at main restaurants first 2 nights unbearable (45 minutes and 1 hour unless you came down after 8.30pm). Breakfast and lunch in main dining rooms not worth it -- seriously understaffed, food very seldom hot. Service at dinner much better, but still a little long between courses. Wait times non-existent for last 7 nights though. Breakfast buffet pretty good choices, but no trays made it a real balancing act trying to get 2 plates, juice, coffee, silverware all in one trip. Tables very hard to find. If you went back for some things and left you plates out, they would be gone and someone else would be sitting at the table. Very frustrating at times.

Guest performers were very good. The Jean Ann Ryan dance group however was below what we had experienced with that company on other NCL ships (Sky in 03 and Dreamward in 94). Without the gymnasts, the show wasn't evern worth going to. Rap music for an audience that probably averaged 65 years of age! Whew!!!

Very good although I think they are a bit pricey. Would not recommend the Emerald Pool excursion in St. Lucia. Long drive to dip into a stagnant pool of sulphur water.

Many people complained that there wasn't very much to do (that didn't cost more money) for the 3 1/2 days the ship was at sea.

Nice ship, but cabin lighting is a joke. Could not read anything in the cabin -- best lighting was in the closet -- one fellow passenger suggested wel leave our clothes out and read in the closet). Also, I've seen bigger standard cabins that the handicap accessible cabin we had. Shower stall was barely big enough for one person with the seat down. Princess overall has much better handicap accessible cabins (two cabins made into one). Bedding and pillows were too hard. No closet space -- a few open shelves, but very had to find space to put everything for a 9 day cruise.

Drink prices are exhorbitant. I had VO and water on Princess last year for $3.95 plus tip. Here it was $6.50 plus tip and it wasn't as strong. Stay away from drinks on NCL. Also, bingo is a huge ripoff. I won the grand prize on Horizon on a 7 day Bermuda cruise in 2004 (1450 passengers, 7 days, grand prize was $1,718). In 2005, the grand prize was $1,595.10 (the announced amount for the winner). Pricess had a $2,500 grand prize for 7 days with 3000 passengers in January 2006. Yet NCL limits its grand prize to $1,000, this on a 9 day cruise with 2800 passengers. You do the math, it doesn't work out the way I figure it. |

Very good - had hand sanitizers at every restaurant entrance, even sanitized hands when reboarding ship from islands.

River tubing & Trafalgar Falls in Dominica, Pirate cruise in Barbados, volcano tour & beach in St. Lucia, beach in Antigua, Virgin Gorda in Tortola-enjoyed all tours.

Especially enjoyed ones led by cruise director, Newlywed game, Quest, dance parties, etc. I'm not much on bingo or casinos.

Beautiful ship - had huge screen tv in atrium, watched football playoff games there with other guests, easy to get around, large shower in bathroom, had coffee pot in cabin

It is freestyle cruising. We went to dinner every night between 5:30 & 6:00 no lines, sat at a different table everynight and had different waiter (personally we prefer set dinner time & table). On optional formal nights, most people did not dress up. If you want to eat at specialty restaurants you have to put in reservations early. We didn't know that & missed out on the italian restaurant that we wanted to go to. Most of the people on board were retired & living in Florida-very miserable group of people. My dad is sailing from Miami next month aboard the Royal Caribbean ship & I told him to let me know how the people are-is it miserable people that cruise Norwegian or are they all miserable from that area. We cruised from New Orleans 2 years ago & met the most friendly people aboard that ship (Carnival). We sailed out of Fort Lauderdale last year, the people were older but not miserable (Princess). I don't go on a ship to try to make friends but I do like to say hello & smile at fellow passengers. These people on this last ship for the most part were down right rude. |

Junior Suite - Room and balcony were nice and big. The problem with room 11104 is that it has ping pong above it. This causes there to be balls flying down to the balcony as well as kids being loud. Bathrooms had a large shower with sliding glass door. There are no bars of soap and no shampoo bottles. With this said they only have liquid shampoo and soap in unmarked push pump dispensers. I think it would be nice to know what was inside, as well as offering conditioner.

Freestyle dining sounds cool, but it is realy hard to get reservations. The best food options were in the garden cafe, (open to everyone with no additional charge). Cagneys - Ordered surf and turf and was given a lobster that was less then appitizong. My wife had the ahi tuna. It was a small thin cut and was not sushi grade. When she asked for it to be rare it was overcooked. Sushi bar fish was also nothing to call home about. Regardless, the service was great, but you can tell they spent the most time with those who were ordering lots of drinks (bottles of wine!!!!).

Cruise directors jokes were old and have been used on Royal Carribean for years. His impesonations got old as well. For the dancers, they were out of sync and the singers were also just avg.
