The Monarch of the Seas sails year-round from L.A. offering 3 and 4 day mini-cruises to Baja Mexico. Originally launched in 1991, the Monarch of the Seas recently underwent a stem-to-stern renovation which included the addition of the Royal Caribbean trademark rock-climbing wall and the expansion of the ShipShape Fitness Center. In addition, a make-your-own pizzeria, a Ben & Jerry's ice cream parlor and Jade, featuring specialty Asian-fusion cuisine, were added. Monarch of the Seas also offers an open-air basketball court, nine bars and lounges and two outdoor pools.
From sunrise to sunset and around every corner, there's something exciting for you to do on a Royal Caribbean International cruise vacation. Onboard, try the rock-climbing wall, or work out with one of our fitness trainers. How about a swim or a relaxing massage? Better yet, try your luck at Caribbean Stud Poker, attend an art auction, or turn it out dancing in a nightclub. There are even supervised activities for kids. And on land, we offer Shore & Land Excursions for everything from glacier trekking in Alaska to swimming with dolphins in Bermuda. Dining on our cruise ships is as exciting as every other aspect of life onboard. There are so many different dishes and enticing atmospheres to experience you won't know where to start: pasta at Portofino, classic burgers from Johnny Rockets, gourmet five-course meals in the main dining room. In addition, all of our cruise ships offer low-fat ShipShape Day Spa menus, kids' menus, and, if you arrange in advance, kosher menus. Specialty restaurants are not available on all ships. Food and service in dining room were EXCELLENT! Windjamer buffet dining room food was good and service was excellent.

Overall the entertainment was good. The "revue" show is old and the same one we saw two years ago. It'd be nice if it was changed.

We enjoyed the Comedian/Impressionist on the third night, the first night comedian was just so, so. We are not so much into the stage shows, but I suppose they were ok

We did not do any particular shore excursion, we just did our own thing.

| ONBOARD ACTIVITIES: |
We were impressed that there were alot of things to do all of the time. We went and saw a few of their demonstrations and enjoyed them (ice sculpting, towel folding, chocolate buffet).

| CHILDRENS PROGRAM: |
Did not use, but did gather information to be able to use in the future. The staff for the childrens activities were really nice.
