Viking Prestige

Viking Prestige will have its first voyage in 2011, and makes its debut as the sister ship to the Viking Legend. 188 lucky guests will enjoy some of the most popular itineraries that Viking has to offer on this grandiose vessel. The ship is equipped with two 310-square-foot suites, as well as 97 staterooms with either picture windows or French balconies and an amazing view of the water and your surroundings. Another great feature of the Viking Prestige is that the ship is "green" - it runs on special hybrid diesel-electric engines, and produces 20% fewer emissions as well as reduces the noise and vibration that many engines make. The ship also offers ship-wide wireless internet service, an onboard boutique for you to explore, and even a sun deck that offers panoramic views.

Activities on Viking Prestige

Guests have many activities to choose from while on the ship. If you prefer to relax, head to the sun deck, where you'll be treated to panoramic views of the countryside as you sail majestically along; you can relax on a lounge, or walk the ship as you enjoy the scenery. The ship also has a boutique where you can shop for gifts and souvenirs, and much more. While you travel between destinations, you can participate in onboard curriculum activities that will help you shed light on the history and culture of the places you're visiting. Each itinerary has its own specific activities, which are planned to ensure that guests will get the maximum exposure to the local culture and more. You can attend a lecture or multimedia talk about the Castles along the Rhine, or the life and works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; learn about the wine and cuisine of Southern France, or art enthusiasts can learn more about French impressionists and Dutch Masters! While you're on-shore, you'll be able to participate in planned excursions, and also in the Old World Highlights program, which takes place both on board and ashore. Guests can attend hands-on demonstrations in local crafts such as glassblowing, cuckoo clock-making, and wooden-shoe-carving; there are cooking classes where you'll learn local specialties, including apple strudel and flammkuchen.

Guests can enjoy local cheeses, coffees, liqueurs and other delicacies, and even traditional performances that include the music and dance of the local cultures.
