Pros & Cons

The Pros

The observation Deck

The Cons

Not enough activities
The Review
I have to say that when it comes to exploring China on the Yangtze River, the highly sophisticated Viking Emerald wins hands down. The ship can take 256 passengers and we felt like we were in a grand hotel instead of on a ship. There are elevators to take you to every deck and you can have a great stateroom with a private balcony. You can spend a lot of time on the ships observation deck just soaking in the beautiful sceneries along the River. There are also cultural highlights that will keep you busy in case you love to be always doing something. You can watch an acrobatic troupe or listen to a lecture on China.

One of the best River Cruises

Pros & Cons

The Pros

Learning the culture in lectures

The Cons

Not all the activities are for everybody
The Review
I loved everything about the Viking Emerald right from the first step I took onboard the ship. The ship is sophisticated so you will not wish you chose to stay in a hotel instead. You will have plenty of activities revolving around the Chinese culture and you will learn about them in the process. You can enjoy dining on the finest 5 course local gourmets that are tailored to complement the regional specialties. If you do not want to watch the scenery from your private balcony you can take an elevator up to the Sun Deck and join other passengers soaking up the sights and sounds around the Yangtze River.

          Great River Cruise

The Review
The reason I loved the Viking Emerald so much is because I got to see China in a way that many other cruise ships cannot show it to you. The Viking Emerald takes its 256 passengers down the River Yangtze in style. The ship is so sophisticated that guests have most of the necessities they would get on land in a hotel. You have great restaurants, bars and even an internet café for those who feel like they cannot stay disconnected for too long. There is an observation deck where you can watch the scenery while somebody tells you about Chinese history of the area.
