New Scrapbooking@Sea Lets Princess Passengers Get Creative With Vacation Memories
SANTA CLARITA, Calif., Nov. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- One of the country's fastest-growing pastimes is coming aboard the Princess fleet with a new way for scrapbooking fans to take their hobby to sea. The recently launched Princess Scrapbooking@Sea program is designed to encourage passengers to preserve their cruise memories in a fun and creative way. The first such program hosted by a cruise line, the new activity offers a social atmosphere where passengers can learn helpful hints on how to enjoy this popular activity. Presented as part of Princess' award-winning ScholarShip@Sea educational program, Scrapbooking@Sea incorporates a series of onboard classes and a specially created scrapbooking kit with unique themed pages designed exclusively for Princess. The program begins rolling out to select ships this month, and is expected to be available across the Princess fleet by early 2007. "Scrapbooking has become one of America's favorite hobbies," said Jan Swartz, Princess' senior vice president of customer service and sales. "And what better way to create a personalized memento of your cruise than to create scrapbook pages while you're actually on the ship. This program was tested aboard several of our vessels with great success -- so we're pleased to now offer this popular activity fleet wide." Scrapbooking@Sea offers a series of classes, starting with a complimentary Scrapbooking Basics class which will introduce passengers to the art of creating scrapbook pages. Participants will learn how to use basic tools of the craft, familiarize themselves with page design and journaling techniques, and will receive the supplies and instruction needed to create their first page. Subsequent courses are available to all passengers who purchase Princess' special scrapbooking kit. Classes offer tips and creative ideas, plus plenty of free time to work on pages with a full range of supplies available for use, including scissors, adhesive, deluxe paper, die cut machines with assorted die cuts, a selection of pens and other items that can be used during the class sessions. All materials are acid-free and archival safe. Princess' special Scrapbooking@Sea kit features decorative papers, stickers and rub-on emblems along with instructions on how to build five unique vacation-themed pages. These pages can be used to create decorative backdrops for photos from typical cruise activities such as welcome aboard, days at sea, shore excursions, or formal evenings. Kits are available for $24.95 at any Scrapbooking@Sea class or at the ship's onboard photo gallery. Additional themed kits are being developed for future sailings. In addition, a specially designed Princess scrapbook is available for purchase at the ship's photo gallery. Princess Celebrates 40 Years of Panama Canal Cruising in 2007-08
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (July 19, 2006) - When Princess transits the locks of the Panama Canal in 2007, it will mark the 40th year that the company has been cruising through this modern-day engineering wonder. The Panama Canal has been called one of the greatest achievements of the 20th Century, and in 2007-08 Princess will offer nine itinerary options for passengers to this 'must see' marvel, including a variety of shorter transits that pack a port-intensive itinerary into a more convenient time frame than a traditional longer sailing. Passengers will be able to travel between the two oceans aboard sister ships Coral Princess and Island Princess, offering full Canal transit voyages and convenient roundtrip partial transits. Purpose-built for the Canal, these ships will together offer nearly 40 departures, carrying more passengers to the Panama Canal than any other cruise line. Each ship also offers vacationers more opportunities to enjoy a balcony stateroom than any other vessel in the destination - the perfect vantage point for passengers to take a close-up look at the workings of the Canal's fascinating locks, which raise and lower the vessel a total of 170 feet. Princess Ships Now the Perfect Place to Say "I Do" in Romantic Locations Around the World
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (July 5, 2006) - Imagine saying "I do" as your cruise ship sails off the coasts of an idyllic Tahitian island, or on the way to a cruise up the Amazon, as the captain joins you as man and wife. The dream becomes a reality as Princess Cruises' unique "Tie the Knot At Sea" wedding program expands to virtually all parts of the world as the line has added its entire fleet of 15 ships to the program. Originally offered only on the line's larger vessels with formal wedding chapels, this romantic option is now also available aboard Sun Princess, Dawn Princess, Sea Princess, Regal Princess, Pacific Princess and Tahitian Princess, opening up a new world of wedding choices. The ships have all been reflagged to a Bermuda registry, the authority under which each marriage is legally certified. "Our wedding program not only gives couples the opportunity to be married by the captain, but also customize the wedding of their dreams," said Jan Swartz, Princess' senior vice president of customer service and sales. "We joined about 1,000 couples in matrimony last year with only part of our fleet involved in the program. Now, every ship in our fleet can offer weddings - including those that sail some very exotic worldwide destinations." Princess' At Sea wedding program began in 1998 with the launch of Grand Princess and has grown each year. This special feature offers couples the rare opportunity to celebrate with a romantic wedding ceremony on the ocean waves, with the ship's captain officiating. Princess is the only major North American cruise line that makes this dream a reality, offering a variety of customizable ceremony options, including, on larger vessels, an onboard wedding chapel decorated in flowers and candlelight for the special day. Other romantic shipboard locations are available as well and ceremonies include a number of special touches that bring together the talents of the ship's chefs, musicians and photographers. Every At Sea wedding includes live music; champagne; bridal bouquet and groom's matching boutonniere; a photo package with canvas portrait; a wedding cake; a souvenir wedding certificate and the services of Princess' onboard wedding coordinators to make sure the day runs smoothly. The happy couple can also customize their event with a variety of food and beverage, floral, photography and video choices. They can also choose to add pampering pre-ceremony spa treatments for the bride or take advantage of the ship's tuxedo rental program for the groom, among a host of other options. Reception options further allow the couple to create their perfect day. Prices for At Sea weddings begin at $1,800 for the ceremony plus $450 for registration and license fees. The program is available fleet wide with marriages performed by the captain under the legal authority of the ship's Bermuda registry. Princess' wedding program assists with all required paperwork associated with Bermuda regulations. Of course, once the ceremony and reception are finished, the honeymoon cruise is just beginning. The wide variety of Princess itineraries offers couples the opportunity to start their married life with the perfect vacation, whether it's lounging in a tropical paradise, visiting a cosmopolitan city or just spending time together on their own private balcony, watching the world go by. And to start the marriage process, Princess also offers a new "Engagement Under the Stars" package where couples can enjoy movie-star status when they agree to tie the knot. Guys (or girls) can pop the question with a personal video proposal shown on the ship's giant outdoor Movies Under the Stars movie screen, plus enjoy a special romantic dinner, amenities, and keepsake items to remember the occasion long after they return home. The "Engagement Under the Stars" package will be available on ships that feature Movies Under the Stars, including the new Crown Princess, Caribbean Princess, Grand Princess, and Sea Princess.

Crown Princess, Newest Jewel in the Princess Cruises Fleet, Makes New York Debut
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (June 14, 2006) -- Under sunny skies with the Manhattan skyline as a dramatic backdrop, Crown Princess, the newest ship in Princess Cruises fleet, was christened today marking its official debut. Home and lifestyle expert Martha Stewart pulled the lever which broke the traditional champagne bottle on the ship, while singing star Katharine McPhee wowed ceremony guests with the same vocal talent that recently catapulted her to television fame. The naming ceremony took place at the ship's new home port in New York, the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, with "crowning" New York landmarks -- the Statue of Liberty, the Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge -- in clear view. Over the last several days, the ship has played host to thousands of special guests who were given an advance preview of the 113,000-ton vessel. One of the special guests feted for her crowning achievement was 13-year-old Katharine Close, the recent winner of the 2006 Scripps National Spelling Bee Tournament and the first female winner in seven years. Miss Close competed in the very first "Bee At Sea," Princess' new spelling bee tournament which makes its debut on Crown Princess, and she was easily declared the winner among a group that included the ship's captain and officers, and "Love Boat" Captain, Gavin MacLeod. The ship departs today on its first Caribbean cruise with stops in Grand Turk, Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Port Canaveral, Florida. The 113,000-ton Crown Princess introduces a number of new design innovations to the Princess fleet, including a dramatic new piazza-style atrium and new casual dining venues. Within the new street café environment of the atrium, passengers find an International Café serving up fresh pastries and baked goods in the morning and assorted other offerings throughout the day, as well as a wine and seafood bar. Several signature Princess venues have been further enhanced, including an expanded Sabatini's Italian trattoria with a new piano lounge, and the Crown Grill, a new steak and seafood restaurant with an open, theater-style kitchen where chefs will custom-prepare steamed shellfish and cooked-to-order steaks and chops. The ship also features the many hallmark features that define the Princess experience, including the dramatic Movies Under the Stars poolside movie screen, multiple dining and entertainment options, a Lotus Spa fitness center, an extensive children and teen's center, a wedding chapel and nearly 900 staterooms with private balconies. The inaugural 2006 summer season for Crown Princess features nine-day roundtrip voyages to both the Eastern and Western Caribbean, and marks the return of Princess visits to Bermuda, as well as the line's first-ever regular calls to Grand Turk. In the fall the ship will reposition to San Juan for winter Caribbean sailings.

Featuring a unique small-ship atmosphere, Pacific Princess takes passengers on a westbound trek from North America that encompasses South America, the South Pacific, Australia, Asia, the Middle East and Europe. "Princess passengers tend to be globetrotters by nature, so we are very happy to once again offer them the chance to explore on an extended voyage," said Jan Swartz, Princess' senior vice president of customer service and sales. "And this unique mix of a small, intimate shipboard experience combined with such a wide-reaching and diverse itinerary makes for the ultimate 'round-the-world adventure." Pacific Princess begins her journey from Ft. Lauderdale and makes Caribbean stops at Grand Cayman and Panama's San Blas Islands before making the dramatic transit of the Panama Canal. The ship then travels to South America with calls at Quito (Manta, Ecuador), and an overnight stay in Lima (Callao, Peru) which together offer a base for an overland journey to explore the famed Machu Picchu. The vessel then heads across the Pacific to Easter Island and cruises by Pitcairn Island, before stops in Tahiti and Rarotonga. After the ship crosses the International Dateline, it continues on to Auckland, Sydney, and then Cairns for the Great Barrier Reef. Next up is Rabaul in Papua/New Guinea, Chuuk (Truk) in Micronesia, Guam, and scenic cruising by WWII icon Iwo Jima. Pacific Princess' Asia leg includes Kagoshima in Japan, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City (Phu My), and Sihanoukville in Cambodia for an overland tour to the dramatic temples of Angkor Wat. Passengers will also enjoy calls at Bangkok and Ko Samui in Thailand plus Singapore, and then go back to Thailand to visit the island of Phuket. The voyage then turns for Colombo in Sri Lanka, Mumbai in India and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. An Egyptian adventure awaits with a visit to Safaga (for Luxor/Karnak), a Suez Canal transit and call in Port Said for Cairo and the pyramids of Giza. In Europe, the ship sails to Athens (Piraeus), Sorrento/Capri, Rome (Civitavecchia), Cannes (for Monte Carlo), Barcelona, Gibraltar and Lisbon. Travelers can kiss the Blarney Stone during a visit to Cork (Cobh) in Ireland and take in Paris or Normandy before ending their great adventure in London (Southampton). However, passengers who wish to extend their world-cruise experience have the unique opportunity to add an additional six-day transatlantic crossing aboard the legendary Queen Mary 2 for a 108-day adventure ending in New York. World cruise passengers will travel in style aboard the intimate Pacific Princess, one of the line's three smallest vessels. Featuring many of the onboard options that have become Princess trademarks, the ship offers a wide variety of dining experiences including alternative dining options -- including Princess' renowned Sabatini's trattoria and the premium Sterling Steakhouse. And, with 92 percent outside staterooms - with over two-thirds of these including a private balcony - the vessel provides the perfect venues for enjoying a wealth of world-wide views, including the locks of the Panama Canal, the tropical paradises of the South Pacific, or the glamour of the French Riviera. Early booking fares for Pacific Princess' world cruise begin at $19,995 for the 102-day sailing or $21,144 for the 108-day journey including the QM2 crossing. All prices are per person, based on double occupancy.
