Fort Lauderdale cruise questions we answer every day
How much is parking at Port Everglades?
The port’s own garages and lots have a maximum daily rate of $25, paid on exit, so a 7 night cruise is about $175 to $200 depending on how the arrival and departure days fall. The Heron Garage serves Terminals 2 and 4 (with an air-conditioned bridge to Terminal 2), the Palm Garage serves Terminals 19, 21, 25, 26 and 29, and surface lots sit beside Terminal 18. Off-site lots along Eisenhower Boulevard and near the airport typically charge roughly $8 to $14 a day with a shuttle to your terminal.
How far is Fort Lauderdale airport from the ship?
About 3 miles and 10 minutes. A taxi or rideshare from FLL to any Port Everglades terminal is typically around $15 to $25, and the cruise lines’ own transfers run about the same per person. Miami International is 30 miles south and about 45 minutes, a sensible backup if FLL fares are high.
Should I fly in the night before?
Yes, in winter especially, when a weather delay in the Northeast can cost you the ship. Hotels on 17th Street Causeway are 5 minutes from the terminals and many include a park-and-cruise week of parking. Fort Lauderdale Beach is 10 minutes away if you want an evening on the sand first. We can add the hotel to your booking.
Do I need a passport to cruise from Fort Lauderdale?
On a closed-loop cruise that starts and ends in Fort Lauderdale, US citizens can sail with a government photo ID plus an original or certified birth certificate. We still recommend a passport, since you cannot fly home from a Caribbean island without one. Full Panama Canal transits and transatlantics are one-way and require a passport.
Are taxes and fees included in the prices here?
Yes. Every price on this page includes cruise fare, taxes, fees and port expenses, per person, double occupancy. Gratuities, drinks packages, excursions and parking are extra.
Which terminal does my ship use?
Royal Caribbean uses Terminal 18, Celebrity 25, Princess 2 (and sometimes 21), Disney 4, Holland America 19, 21 and 26, and the luxury lines and overflow sailings rotate through 29 and the Midport terminals. Your cruise documents name the terminal, and the port signs are clear from the Eisenhower Boulevard entrance. Boarding usually opens at 11 am and sails between 3 and 5 pm.
