About Oceania Sonata
Oceania Sonata is the first of five Sonata Class ships on order from Fincantieri and the largest vessel ever built for Oceania Cruises. At about 86,000 tons she is nearly 30 percent larger than Allura but carries only 1,390 guests in 695 staterooms and suites, with a crew of 855, so public rooms, bars and lounges are noticeably bigger. Floated out at Fincantieri’s Marghera yard in 2026, she is scheduled to debut in August 2027 and Oceania has said she will sail as an adults-only ship.
One third of the accommodations are suites, every one with a private veranda. Sonata introduces two new categories, the Horizon Suite of more than 600 square feet with separate living and sleeping areas, a walk-through closet and an oversized veranda, and the 488-square-foot Penthouse Deluxe Suite, plus the line’s first two-bedroom Owner’s Suites. Dining grows to 13 venues including two new concepts: Nikkei Kitchen, Oceania’s first Japanese-Peruvian restaurant, and La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France, an 18-seat French tasting-menu room, alongside the Grand Dining Room, Polo Grill, Toscana, Red Ginger and Jacques.
Her maiden voyage, Mediterranean Collage, departs Rome on August 7, 2027 for 14 days to Trieste by way of Catania, Valletta, Katakolon, Bar and Zadar. The 22-sailing inaugural season runs through April 2028 across the Mediterranean, a Barcelona to Southampton crossing, Athens to Istanbul, a transatlantic to Miami in November 2027, then the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, Mexico and Central and South America from Miami and Los Angeles.
