About Viking Saturn

Viking Saturn was delivered by Fincantieri in April 2023 and named in New York Harbor that June by Ann Ziff, chairman of the Metropolitan Opera, one of Viking’s long-standing cultural partners. She is the tenth ship built to Viking’s ocean template, 47,800 gross tons, 745 feet, 930 guests in 465 staterooms with a private veranda on every one, and carries the Explorers’ Dome planetarium, the two-story Explorers’ Lounge, the Nordic Spa and the infinity pool shared across the fleet.

She suits adults who want the destination to be the point of the trip. There is no casino and no children’s program; days are built around an included shore excursion in every port, lectures from a resident historian and guest speakers, classical music from the Viking Resident Musicians, afternoon tea in the Wintergarden and evenings in Torshavn. Wi-Fi, beer and wine with lunch and dinner and the alternative restaurants are included in the fare.

Through 2026 and 2027 Viking lists Viking Saturn on Mediterranean itineraries of 8 to 15 days between Barcelona, Rome (Civitavecchia), Venice (Chioggia), Athens (Piraeus), Istanbul and Lisbon, including Mediterranean Odyssey, Greek Odyssey and the new Spain & Portugal Discovery, and for summer 2027 on Northern Europe: the 15-day British Isles Explorer from Bergen to London (Greenwich), Viking Homelands from Stockholm to Bergen and the new British Isles & Ireland voyage from London to Belfast.

  • Every one of the 465 staterooms has a private veranda
  • Explorers’ Dome planetarium with astronomy shows and lectures
  • Adults-only ship for guests 18 and over, with no casino on board
  • The Nordic Spa with a snow grotto, sauna, thermal pool and heated loungers, open to every guest
  • Infinity pool off the Aquavit Terrace and a Main Pool with a retractable roof
  • One included shore excursion in every port of call
  • Manfredi’s Italian Restaurant and The Chef’s Table at no extra charge
  • Summer 2027 British Isles and Viking Homelands voyages from Bergen, London and Stockholm

Viking Saturn questions we answer every day

How big is Viking Saturn?
Viking Saturn is 47,800 gross tons and 745 feet long, with 465 staterooms for 930 guests, every one with a private veranda. Viking classes her as a small ship, and her size lets her dock in the center of ports that bigger ships cannot reach. She was delivered in April 2023 and shares her layout with Viking Star and the rest of the ocean fleet.
Is Viking Saturn adults only?
Yes. All guests on Viking ocean ships must be 18 or older on the day they embark, and there are no facilities or programs for children. There is also no casino. The public rooms are given over to lounges, a library, lectures, classical music, the planetarium and the Nordic Spa rather than arcades and kids clubs, which keeps the ship quiet day and night.
What is included in the Viking Saturn fare?
Viking includes one shore excursion in every port, Wi-Fi, all onboard meals including Manfredi’s and The Chef’s Table, beer, wine and soft drinks with lunch and dinner, specialty coffees and teas around the clock, 24-hour room service, access to the Nordic Spa thermal suite and fitness center, lectures and Destination Performances, self-service launderettes and port taxes and fees. Airfare, spa treatments, the Silver Spirits beverage package and The Kitchen Table are extra.
Which stateroom is the best choice on Viking Saturn?
Every stateroom has a veranda, so the differences are space and priority. Veranda and Deluxe Veranda rooms are 270 square feet and suit most couples; Deluxe earns earlier booking windows for excursions, restaurants and the spa. Penthouse Veranda rooms add a sitting area at 338 square feet, and Explorer Suites give you a separate living room, with the aft suites getting wraparound verandas over the wake.
Where does Viking Saturn sail in 2026 and 2027?
Viking lists her on Mediterranean voyages of 8 to 15 days between Barcelona, Rome (Civitavecchia), Venice (Chioggia), Athens (Piraeus), Istanbul and Lisbon, among them Iconic Western Mediterranean, Mediterranean Odyssey, Empires of the Mediterranean, Greek Odyssey and the new Spain & Portugal Discovery. For summer 2027 she sails the British Isles Explorer from Bergen to London, Viking Homelands from Stockholm to Bergen and British Isles & Ireland from London to Belfast.
How is Viking Saturn different from the older Viking ships?
In layout she is the same ship: Viking built its ocean fleet as identical sisters so that the Explorers’ Lounge, Nordic Spa, infinity pool and restaurants are where you expect them on every vessel. The differences are age and detail. Delivered in 2023, she is among the newest of the class, carries the Explorers’ Dome planetarium that the first four ships lack, and her naming by the Metropolitan Opera’s chairman reflects Viking’s partnership that brings The Met: Live in HD to The Theater.

Facts checked against Viking: Viking Saturn, Viking: Destination-focused dining, Viking: Viking Inclusive Value, Viking: Cultural enrichment on October 13, 2026. Ship details change with refurbishments; your SmartCruiser advisor confirms the current layout when you book.
