About Avalon Imagery II

Avalon Imagery II entered service in 2016 as the last and newest of Avalon’s six 128-guest Suite Ships, following Visionary, Artistry II, Poetry II, Tapestry II and Tranquility II. It is 361 feet long with four decks, 64 staterooms and a crew of 37, so it carries about 40 fewer guests than Avalon’s full-length ships while offering the same suites, dining and included excursions.

Two full decks of 200-square-foot Panorama Suites make up most of the ship, each with the wall-to-wall Open-Air Balcony window that slides open seven feet wide and a Comfort Collection bed facing the river. The glass-walled Panorama Dining Room serves breakfast, lunch and a four-course dinner with wine and beer included, the Panorama Bistro and Sky Bistro add lighter choices, and the Sky Deck has a whirlpool, shade system and deck games.

Avalon lists Avalon Imagery II on the Danube from 2027, with the six-day Danube Symphony between Vilshofen and Budapest, versions with a night in Budapest or two nights in Munich, and Christmastime cruises between Nuremberg and Vienna and between Budapest and Vienna in late 2027; Rhine and Moselle cruises follow in 2028. Avalon’s own cruise listing shows no 2026 departures for this ship, so check the live sailing list below for current dates.

  • Open-Air Balcony windows that slide open seven feet wide, with the bed facing the river

Avalon Imagery II questions we answer every day

How big is Avalon Imagery II?
Avalon Imagery II is 361 feet long with four decks, 64 staterooms and room for 128 guests served by a crew of 37. Delivered in 2016, it is the newest of Avalon’s six shorter Suite Ships. Panorama Suites fill the Royal and Sapphire decks, Deluxe Staterooms are on the Indigo Deck and the Sky Deck on top carries the whirlpool, shade system and Sky Bistro.
Where does Avalon Imagery II sail in 2026 and 2027?
Avalon’s published schedule for this ship begins in 2027 on the Danube: the six-day Danube Symphony between Vilshofen and Budapest, with options adding a night in Budapest or two nights in Munich, then Christmastime on the Danube between Nuremberg and Vienna and Christmastime from Budapest to Vienna in late 2027. Rhine and Moselle cruises are listed for 2028. No 2026 departures appear on Avalon’s site for this ship.
How does Avalon Imagery II compare with the larger Avalon ships?
The suites, dining room, Sky Deck and included drinks and excursions are the same as on the 166-guest ships such as Avalon Expression. The difference is scale: 128 guests instead of 166, a 361-foot hull instead of 443 feet, and a crew of 37. Smaller groups on excursions and a less busy lounge are the practical gains; the trade-off is a shorter Sky Deck.
Which staterooms are best on Avalon Imagery II?
Panorama Suites on the Royal and Sapphire decks are 200 square feet with the Open-Air Balcony and a bed facing the river; the Royal Deck is closest to the lounge and Sky Deck. Deluxe Staterooms on the Indigo Deck are 172 square feet with fixed windows and the lowest fares. The Royal Suites at 300 square feet add a king bed, a second panoramic door and a half-bath.
What is included in the fare on Avalon Imagery II?
All meals, wine, beer and soft drinks with lunch and dinner, sparkling wine at breakfast, a daily happy hour, 24-hour coffee and tea in the Club Lounge, Starlink Wi-Fi, bikes and e-bikes, and a choice of Classic, Discovery or Active excursions at each stop. Gratuities, drinks outside those times and optional excursions are extra. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where Avalon allows it, not available when you book direct.
Is Avalon Imagery II suitable for children?
Avalon does not accept children under eight and runs no kids’ programs. Older teens are welcome and will find bikes, Active excursions and the Sky Deck whirlpool, but the ship and its guests are adult-oriented, and the six-day Danube Symphony is paced for sightseeing in Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest.
