American Song: ship guide
The first modern American riverboat, 180 guests, now on the Columbia and Snake Rivers.
Best for: Travelers who want a modern, glass-filled riverboat with a balcony in every stateroom for the Lewis and Clark route, or the national parks package that adds Yellowstone and Glacier. Sails from Portland, OR, Clarkston, WA, Jackson, WY in 2026 and 2027.

About American Song
American Song launched in 2018 as the first contemporary riverboat ever built in the United States and the flagship of the American Riverboat series. The 180-guest ship introduced the design that the fleet has followed since: a four-story glass-enclosed atrium with a domed skylight as the central gathering point, lounges soaring 40 feet above the water with triple the glass of older riverboats, a Bow Terrace, a bow ramp for walking straight ashore, and a Sky Walk track on the sun deck for scenic strides.
Every stateroom has a private balcony. Sky Suites on decks 3 and 4 measure 515 square feet with a separate bedroom and living room, a breakfast bar and a 25-foot wraparound balcony; Veranda Suites are at least 350 square feet on three decks; Premium and Deluxe Balcony rooms are 300 square feet; Standard Balcony rooms on the Main and second decks are 275 square feet; and Single Balcony rooms of at least 250 square feet serve solo travelers. Elevators reach all passenger decks, and the Sky Lounge, River Lounge, three midship lounges, The Study, Back Porch Cafe, fitness center and guest laundry round out the ship.
Although American Song began life on the Mississippi, for 2026 and 2027 it is based in the Pacific Northwest, sailing the eight-night Columbia and Snake Rivers Cruise one way between Portland, Oregon, and Clarkston, Washington, with departures in both directions from October 2026 through the 2027 season. From June to September 2027 it also operates the 14- and 15-night National Parks and Legendary Rivers package that pairs the river cruise with Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Glacier national parks, ending or starting in Jackson, Wyoming.
