S.S. Sphinx: ship guide
An all-suite, 84-guest Super Ship on the Nile with a pool and two restaurants.
Best for: Travelers who want to see Egypt in depth with an Egyptologist, on a small all-suite ship with a pool, included drinks and gratuities, and the option of a family-friendly Generations departure in December. Sails from Cairo, Luxor in 2026 and 2027.

About S.S. Sphinx
S.S. Sphinx is Uniworld’s Nile Super Ship, launched in 2021 for the line’s Egypt program. It carries just 84 guests in 42 suites, every one with a French balcony, and has a staff of 60, which gives it one of the highest crew-to-guest ratios on the Nile. The decor was made by local artisans from regionally sourced materials, including fine Egyptian cottons, marble and hand-carved blonde wood, so the ship feels like a boutique hotel on the river rather than a floating resort.
On board you will find two gourmet dining venues, a restaurant and a bistro, a lounge and lobby bar, a swimming pool and sun deck, a gym and a massage room. Suites run from 233-square-foot French Balcony rooms through 301-square-foot Deluxe French Balcony rooms to eighteen 430-square-foot Grand Suites and four 592-square-foot Royal Suites. Uniworld notes that S.S. Sphinx is operated for the line, so some amenities differ from its company-owned ships in Europe.
The ship sails the 12-day Splendors of Egypt & the Nile program in 2026 and 2027, which opens and closes with hotel nights in Cairo and puts guests aboard in Luxor for a cruise between Luxor and Aswan with an Egyptologist, including the Valley of the Kings, Karnak, Edfu and Abu Simbel. It suits travelers who want Egypt done thoroughly and comfortably, with gratuities, excursions and drinks included, and selected December departures carry the family-friendly Generations Collection program.
