About Amadeus Brilliant

Amadeus Brilliant is a 110-meter ship from 2011, renovated in 2020, carrying 150 guests in 68 staterooms and 8 suites with a crew of about 40. The shorter hull is the reason it can sail where the 135-meter fleet cannot: in 2026 and 2027 it is the Amadeus ship for the Saar and Moselle, running eight-day Saar and Moselle Fairytales round trips from Cologne past Cochem, Trier and the Saar Bend.

Staterooms on the Mozart and Strauss decks are 162 square feet with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors and a French balcony, Haydn Deck cabins have the same footprint behind fixed panoramic windows, and the eight Amadeus Suites are 237 square feet with a French balcony and seating area. Two single cabins on the Haydn Deck are sold without a single supplement. Dining is in the Panorama Restaurant with wine, beer and soft drinks included at lunch and dinner.

Beyond the Moselle, Amadeus Brilliant also runs Classical Rhine Cruises between Amsterdam and Basel, Danube Rhapsody round trips from Passau and the spring Tulip Serenade from Amsterdam. It is the right pick for guests who want the Moselle wine villages or a no-supplement single cabin on a classic Amadeus ship with a 24-hour fitness room and morning exercise on the sun deck.

Amadeus Brilliant questions we answer every day

How big is Amadeus Brilliant?
Amadeus Brilliant is a 110-meter (361-foot) river ship built in 2011 and renovated in 2020, carrying 150 guests in 68 staterooms and 8 suites with a crew of about 40 across four decks. The shorter hull lets it navigate the Moselle and Saar locks that the 135-meter Amadeus ships cannot use. A guest elevator serves the Mozart to Haydn decks.
Where does Amadeus Brilliant sail in 2026 and 2027?
Its signature is the eight-day Saar and Moselle Fairytales round trip from Cologne through Germany and Luxembourg, with Cochem, Trier, Saarburg and the Saar Bend. It also sails the Classical Rhine Cruise between Amsterdam and Basel in both directions, Danube Rhapsody round trips from Passau, and the spring Tulip Serenade round trip from Amsterdam through Holland and Belgium.
Which staterooms are best on Amadeus Brilliant?
Mozart and Strauss Deck cabins (A-1, B-1, B-4) have floor-to-ceiling sliding doors and a French balcony in 162 square feet. The eight Amadeus Suites are 237 square feet with a French balcony, seating area and espresso machine. Haydn Deck cabins have fixed windows at the lowest fares, and the two single cabins there are sold with no single supplement, rare in river cruising.
What is included in the fare on Amadeus Brilliant?
All meals, wine, draft beer, soda, coffee and tea with lunch and dinner, a welcome reception and gala dinner, afternoon tea, Wi-Fi, gratuities, port and lock fees, e-bike use, lectures and onboard entertainment. Excursions are extra, sold as discounted packages before departure or individually on board. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where Amadeus allows it, not available when you book direct.
How does Amadeus Brilliant differ from the newer Amadeus ships?
Being a 110-meter ship from 2011, it has French balconies rather than the drop-down panoramic windows of the 135-meter ships, slightly smaller 162-square-foot cabins and 237-square-foot suites, and no pool or River Terrace. In return it reaches the Moselle and Saar, waives the single supplement, and was renovated in 2020 with Signature Beds and Rituals products.
Is Amadeus Brilliant suitable for children?
Amadeus has no kids facilities or programs. Children 14 and under need the line’s consent before booking, and guests 17 and under must share a cabin with a parent, guardian or responsible adult who signs a liability waiver. Older teens who enjoy cycling and castles can do well on the Moselle itinerary.
