About Amadeus Riva

Amadeus Riva entered service in 2023 and holds Gold status in the Green Award program for her environmentally friendly design, with an efficient engine and an advanced air-filtration system that cut CO2 emissions. She is a 443-foot, four-deck ship for a maximum of 158 guests in 67 outside cabins and 12 Amadeus Suites, with a crew of about 46. Amadeus River Cruises is the brand of Lueftner Cruises, a family-owned Austrian company with more than 40 years on Europe’s rivers.

Inside, Riva pairs the Panorama Restaurant and its floor-to-ceiling windows with the Panorama Bar and Lounge, where there is live music and a dance floor every evening, Café Vienna for coffee and pastries, a glass-enclosed River Terrace, a fitness room and a sun deck with an outdoor dining area. Mozart and Strauss deck cabins have full-width drop-down panoramic windows, and the 12 suites open onto walk-out exterior balconies.

Her 2026 and 2027 seasons run the Classical Rhine between Amsterdam and Basel, Danube Rhapsody round trips from Passau and the Classical Danube between Passau and Budapest, then a full winter program of Advent, Christmas and New Year’s Eve cruises on both rivers from Cologne, Strasbourg, Nuremberg, Vienna and Passau. Tulip Serenade sailings from Amsterdam and a Rhine and Danube Symphony from Cologne to Passau join in 2027. She suits travelers who want a nearly new ship and a choice of Rhine, Danube or Christmas-market weeks.

That is the standard footprint for Rhine and Danube locks. Every cabin is an outside cabin, and the ratio of roughly one crew member for every three or four guests is what keeps the service personal.

What is the Green Award on Amadeus Riva?

The Green Award is an independent certification for inland ships that go beyond legal requirements on emissions, safety and environmental management. Amadeus states that Riva holds Gold status thanks to an efficient engine and an advanced air-filtration system that reduce CO2 output, part of the company’s program of adding a cleaner ship to the fleet every year.

Where does Amadeus Riva sail in 2026 and 2027?

Summer and fall are split between the Classical Rhine between Amsterdam and Basel and the Danube from Passau, round trip or one way to Budapest. From late November she runs Magic of Advent, Christmas and New Year’s Eve cruises on both rivers out of Cologne, Strasbourg, Nuremberg, Vienna and Passau. In 2027 spring Tulip Serenade sailings from Amsterdam and a Rhine and Danube Symphony from Cologne to Passau are added.

Which cabins are best on Amadeus Riva?

Book a Mozart or Strauss deck cabin for the drop-down panoramic window, which lowers the whole glass wall to make an open-air balcony. The 12 Amadeus Suites go a step further with a true walk-out balcony, a lounge area and an espresso machine, and they sell out first on Christmas-market dates. Haydn Deck C cabins have fixed windows and the lowest fares.

What is included on Amadeus Riva?

All meals, wine, draft beer, soft drinks and coffee or tea with lunch and dinner, afternoon tea, late-night snacks, a guided excursion in most ports with the wireless audio system, Wi-Fi, bicycles and e-bikes, port taxes, lock fees and all gratuities. Bar drinks between meals, massages and optional excursions are extra. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where Amadeus allows it, not available when you book direct.

Is Amadeus Riva good for a Christmas markets cruise?
