About Celebrity Compass

Celebrity Compass is the first ship of Celebrity River Cruises, the line’s new European river brand, and it debuts on the Danube in September 2027. Built by TeamCo in the Netherlands and floated out in September 2026, it carries 172 guests in 86 staterooms across five categories, every one with a king-size bed. The design borrows from the Edge Series: the first Skylight Infinite Balcony Suites on any river, cantilevered Magic Edge dining pods suspended over the water, and an infinity-edge plunge pool at the stern.

Compass suits couples and small groups who already like Celebrity at sea and want the same style on the rivers, with fewer than 200 guests, butler service in every suite and a mostly inclusive fare. Wi-Fi, unlimited drinks, continental breakfast in your room and one guided excursion a day are included. Eight restaurants and bars include two main dining rooms, Café al Bacio, a reservation-only Chef’s Table, the Top Deck Bar and Grille, the Martini Bar and the Sunset Lounge and Bar.

The debut season runs 7-night Upper Danube itineraries between Budapest and Vilshofen or Nuremberg through Hungary, Austria and Germany, with Vienna, Bratislava, Melk, Linz and Passau along the way and Christmas-market departures in November and December 2027. Celebrity sells pre and post-cruise extensions in Budapest and Prague. Sister ship Celebrity Seeker follows in 2027, with Wanderer, Roamer and Boundless in 2028 as the fleet grows to 20 ships by 2031.

  • First-ever Skylight Infinite Balcony Suites, with a ceiling window over the bed and a separate living area
  • Magic Edge: two cantilevered dining pods suspended over the river, a river-cruise first
  • Infinity-edge plunge pool at the Sunset Lounge on the aft top deck
  • King-size beds in every stateroom and butler service in every suite
  • Eight restaurants and bars including Café al Bacio, the Martini Bar and a Chef’s Table
  • Top Deck Bar and Grille with shade structures that lower for low bridges
  • Hybrid propulsion and a lightweight hull engineered for quieter, smoother sailing
  • One guided excursion a day, Wi-Fi and unlimited drinks included in the fare

Celebrity Compass questions we answer every day

How big is Celebrity Compass?
Celebrity Compass is a river ship built to fit Europe’s locks and bridges, with 86 staterooms for 172 guests on four decks, three of them with accommodation. That is a fraction of an ocean ship, so everything is close at hand and the atmosphere is intimate. Celebrity has not published tonnage or exact length, so we leave those figures blank until it does.
When does Celebrity Compass start sailing?
Compass is the first ship in the Celebrity River Cruises fleet. Steel was cut in January 2026, the ship was floated out at the shipyard in September 2026 and its first revenue sailings are scheduled for September 2027 on the Danube. Celebrity Seeker follows later in 2027, and Wanderer, Roamer and Boundless join in 2028.
Who is Celebrity Compass best for?
Compass is for couples and small groups who want a modern, design-led river ship with most things included and a Celebrity-style bar and dining scene. It is adult-oriented with no kids program. Guests who have sailed the Edge Series will recognize the Infinite Balcony concept, the Martini Bar and Café al Bacio; first-time river cruisers get a brand-new ship with butler service in every suite.
What is the best stateroom on Celebrity Compass?
For most guests the Infinite Balcony stateroom is the one to book: the window lowers and the whole room becomes a balcony. If you want a step-out balcony, choose a Vista Balcony stateroom or suite. The four Skylight Infinite Balcony Suites are unique to Celebrity River, with a separate living area, a skylight over the bed and butler service, and they are the first to sell out.
What is included on a Celebrity Compass cruise?
The fare includes your stateroom, all meals on board, unlimited drinks including wine, beer, cocktails and premium coffee, shipwide Wi-Fi, continental breakfast in your room and one guided excursion or land tour each day. Suites add butler service, a premium drinks package, specialty dining once per voyage and laundry. Gratuities and airfare are not included. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where Celebrity allows it, not available booking direct.
Where does Celebrity Compass sail?
The debut season is 7-night Upper Danube cruises between Budapest and Vilshofen or Nuremberg, sailing through Hungary, Austria and Germany with calls such as Vienna, Bratislava, Melk, Linz, Passau and Regensburg. Late-year departures are themed around the Christmas markets. Celebrity offers pre and post-cruise stays in Budapest and Prague, and the wider fleet also sails the Rhine between Basel and Amsterdam.
