About Norwegian Viva

Norwegian Viva is the second Prima Class ship, delivered by Fincantieri in August 2023 and christened in Miami by Luis Fonsi. It shares Norwegian Prima’s layout: 142,500 gross tons, 3,195 guests at double occupancy, a crew of 1,506 and the Ocean Boulevard promenade that circles deck 8 with Infinity Beach, Oceanwalk glass bridges and the Indulge Outdoor Lounge. Guests get more space and more crew per person than on Norwegian’s larger Breakaway Plus ships.

The Viva Speedway is a three-level go-kart track, The Rush and The Drop are dry slides, the Galaxy Pavilion is a virtual reality arcade and Tee Time is the mini golf course. Dining follows the Prima model with Hudson’s and The Commodore Room as main dining rooms, the complimentary Indulge Food Hall and specialty restaurants including Onda by Scarpetta, Palomar, Hasuki and Nama. The Haven aft complex has private elevators, an infinity pool, restaurant and lounge, all with sea views.

Norwegian Viva spends summer 2026 in Europe on nine to 11 day Western Mediterranean and Greek Isles cruises from Barcelona, Rome, Ravenna and Istanbul, then sails a second winter from Galveston on seven-day Western Caribbean cruises from October 2026 to April 2027. Spring 2027 brings Caribbean sailings from Miami before another Europe season, and from November 2027 it sails Southern Caribbean loops from San Juan. It suits couples and families who want a newer, upscale ship.

Norwegian Viva questions we answer every day

How big is Norwegian Viva?
Norwegian Viva is 142,500 gross tons and 965 feet long with 16 guest decks, carrying 3,195 guests at double occupancy and a crew of 1,506. Like Norwegian Prima it is deliberately smaller than the Breakaway Plus ships, so there is more deck space per guest and a higher crew ratio than on the line’s biggest ships.
Is Norwegian Viva the same as Norwegian Prima?
Nearly. Norwegian Viva is Norwegian Prima’s sister ship with the same layout, the Ocean Boulevard promenade, a three-level go-kart speedway, the Indulge Food Hall and The Haven aft. Viva arrived a year later in 2023 with its own hull art, show lineup and bar details, so if you loved one you will feel at home on the other.
Where does Norwegian Viva sail in 2026 and 2027?
Summer 2026 is Europe, with nine to 11 day Western Mediterranean and Greek Isles cruises from Barcelona, Rome, Ravenna and Istanbul. From October 2026 to April 2027 the ship sails seven-day Western Caribbean cruises from Galveston to Cozumel, Costa Maya, Roatan and Harvest Caye. Spring 2027 adds Caribbean sailings from Miami, summer 2027 returns to Europe, and from November 2027 it sails Southern Caribbean loops from San Juan.
Which staterooms are best on Norwegian Viva?
Balcony staterooms and Club Balcony Suites are the best all-round choice, and forward-facing corner Club Balcony Suites have especially good views. Solo travelers get real value from the Studios with their private lounge. For a resort-within-a-ship, The Haven offers suites up to the 195 square meter three-bedroom Premier Owner’s Suite with butler service and an infinity pool.
What is included in the fare on Norwegian Viva?
Hudson’s, The Commodore Room, the Indulge Food Hall, Surfside Café & Grill and The Local Bar & Grill are included, along with shows, pools, slides and Splash Academy. Specialty restaurants, drinks, Wi-Fi and Speedway laps are extra unless covered by a Free at Sea package. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where Norwegian allows it, something you will not get booking direct.
Is Norwegian Viva good for families?
Yes. Kids 3 to 12 have Splash Academy and teens have Entourage, while the Viva Speedway, The Rush and The Drop slides, the aqua park, Galaxy Pavilion and mini golf keep everyone busy. Family inside, oceanview and Club Balcony Suite layouts sleep up to four, and the Indulge Food Hall lets everyone order something different at the same table.
