About Norwegian Escape

Norwegian Escape was the first Breakaway Plus Class ship, delivered by Meyer Werft in October 2015 with hull art by Guy Harvey and Pitbull as godfather. At 164,998 gross tons and 1,069 feet it carries 4,218 guests at double occupancy with a crew of 1,733 across 16 guest decks, and it was refreshed in 2022. The Waterfront oceanfront promenade on deck 8 lines up specialty restaurants and bars with outdoor seating, and 678 Ocean Place connects three decks of nightlife.

The top deck holds a three-level ropes course with a zip line and The Plank extending over the side of the ship, next to an Aqua Park with the Free Fall and Aqua Racer slides. The Choir of Man plays the Escape Theater and Howl at the Moon brings dueling pianos. Dining includes the Manhattan Room, Taste and Savor, the Garden Café and 24-hour O’Sheehan’s at no extra charge, plus Cagney’s, Le Bistro, La Cucina, Moderno Churrascaria, Teppanyaki, Food Republic and Bayamo by Ocean Blue.

In 2026 and 2027 Norwegian Escape is an East Coast ship. After summer 2026 cruises from Port Canaveral it homeports in New York from August 2026 through early April 2027 on Canada and New England, Eastern Caribbean and Bahamas and Florida cruises, including a 16-night transatlantic to Barcelona. Spring and summer 2027 bring three to five day Bahamas and Caribbean cruises from Miami, and from November 2027 it sails seven-day Western Caribbean cruises from Galveston. It suits families and groups who want a big ship with plenty to do.

Norwegian Escape questions we answer every day

How big is Norwegian Escape?
Norwegian Escape is 164,998 gross tons and 1,069 feet long with 16 guest decks, carrying 4,218 guests at double occupancy and a crew of 1,733. It was built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany and delivered in October 2015 as the first of the four Breakaway Plus Class ships that also include Norwegian Joy, Bliss and Encore.
When was Norwegian Escape last refurbished?
Norwegian Cruise Line lists Norwegian Escape as built in 2015 and renovated in 2022. The ship keeps its original Breakaway Plus layout with The Waterfront promenade, 678 Ocean Place, the three-level ropes course and Aqua Park, with refreshed public rooms, staterooms and the current show lineup headed by The Choir of Man.
Where does Norwegian Escape sail in 2026 and 2027?
After summer 2026 cruises from Port Canaveral, Norwegian Escape sails from New York from August 2026 through early April 2027 on weeklong Canada and New England cruises, a 10-night Eastern Caribbean cruise, Bahamas and Florida cruises and a 16-night transatlantic to Barcelona. In spring and summer 2027 it sails three to five day Bahamas and Caribbean cruises from Miami, then moves to Galveston in November 2027 for seven-day Western Caribbean cruises.
Which staterooms are best on Norwegian Escape?
Balcony staterooms are the best all-round pick, and aft-facing balconies over the wake are a favorite. Club Balcony Suites add a bigger bathroom and more space, and large oceanview staterooms on the lower decks sleep families of five. The Haven has Courtyard Penthouses, Spa Suites, two-bedroom Family Villas and Deluxe Owner’s Suites around a private pool with butler service.
What is included in the fare on Norwegian Escape?
The Manhattan Room, Taste, Savor, the Garden Café buffet and 24-hour O’Sheehan’s are included, along with The Choir of Man, the ropes course, waterslides, pools and Splash Academy. Specialty restaurants, drinks and Wi-Fi are extra unless covered by a Free at Sea package. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where Norwegian allows it, something you will not get booking direct.
Is Norwegian Escape good for families?
Yes. The three-level ropes course with zip line and The Plank, the Free Fall and Aqua Racer slides and the Kids’ Aqua Park are big draws, and Splash Academy and Entourage cover ages 3 to 17 with complimentary programming. Family oceanviews sleep five and Haven Family Villas sleep six. Short Bahamas cruises from Florida and drive-to departures from New York and Galveston keep travel simple.
