Late June to JulyLavender in bloom around Avignon and Arles; hot, bright and busy.
September to OctoberHarvest in Burgundy, Beaujolais and the Côtes du Rhône, cooler days; the best balance of weather and price.
November to DecemberThe last sailings of the year and a few Lyon Festival of Lights departures in early December.

Rhône river cruise questions we answer every day

Where does a Rhône cruise go?

Between Lyon and Avignon or Arles: Vienne, Tournon and Tain-l’Hermitage, Viviers, Avignon, Arles, with the Saône to Mâcon or Chalon for Beaujolais and Burgundy on most itineraries. Excursions reach the Pont du Gard, the Ardèche gorge and the lavender fields.

How long is a Rhône cruise?

7 nights is standard. Two-river itineraries with the Seine run 14 nights, and a few 10 to 11 night versions add Burgundy or Paris hotel nights.

Which direction should I sail?

Northbound ends in Lyon with the TGV to Paris; southbound ends in Provence near the Riviera. Flights into Lyon, Marseille and Nice all work; we price the whole trip either way.

When is lavender in bloom?

Late June to mid-July around Avignon, Arles and the Luberon. Sailings in those weeks sell out first; book by early spring.

Are taxes and fees included in the prices here?

Yes. Every price on this page includes cruise fare, taxes, fees and port expenses. Flights, hotels, gratuities where not included and optional excursions are extra.

Do you have other French rivers?

Yes: the Seine from Paris and the Garonne and Dordogne from Bordeaux.
