About Amadeus Provence

Amadeus Provence is the Lueftner ship made for southern France. Delivered in 2017 at 110 meters to fit the Rhone and Saone locks, it carries just 140 guests in 62 staterooms and 8 suites with a crew of about 40, yet it has the newer-generation cabins of the 135-meter ships: 188-square-foot Mozart and Strauss Deck rooms with drop-down panoramic windows and 284-square-foot Amadeus Suites with walk-out balconies.

The sun deck carries a swimming pool and the Lido Bar, a rarity on a river ship of this size, and the bow has the glass-enclosed River Terrace for open-air lounging out of the mistral. Inside are the Panorama Restaurant, the Panorama Bar for evening music and the Amadeus Club wine bar for jazz and classical sessions. Wine, draft beer and soft drinks come with lunch and dinner, and the wine list leans on the regions you sail past.

In 2026 and 2027 Amadeus Provence sails one program, the eight-day Treasures of Burgundy and Provence round trip from Lyon on the Rhone and Saone, with 14 departures in 2027 from spring through fall. Highlights are the lavender and vineyards of Provence, the food capital Lyon, the Papal Palace in Avignon and the Burgundy wine towns along the Saone. It suits wine and food travelers who want a small ship and a week in the south of France.

Amadeus Provence questions we answer every day

How big is Amadeus Provence?
Amadeus Provence is a 110-meter (361-foot) river ship built in 2017 for 140 guests in 62 staterooms and 8 suites, with a crew of about 40 and four decks. The shorter hull is what allows it to transit the Rhone and Saone locks. A guest elevator connects the Mozart and Haydn decks, and the sun deck is reached by stairs.
Where does Amadeus Provence sail in 2026 and 2027?
Only in southern France. The ship runs the eight-day Treasures of Burgundy and Provence cruise round trip from Lyon on the Rhone and Saone, with 14 departures across the 2027 season. Highlights the line names are the lavender fields of Provence, Lyon’s culinary scene and the Papal Palace in Avignon, with Burgundy wine towns along the Saone.
Is there a pool on Amadeus Provence?
Yes. Amadeus Provence has a swimming pool on the sun deck with the Lido Bar alongside it, something few 110-meter river ships offer. The bow has the glass-shielded River Terrace for sitting outside when the mistral blows, and there is a massage room on board.
Which staterooms are best on Amadeus Provence?
Mozart and Strauss Deck cabins (A-1, B-1, B-4) are 188 square feet with a panoramic window that drops at the touch of a button, the Amadeus signature. The eight Amadeus Suites add a walk-out balcony, living area, espresso machine and early check-in. Haydn Deck cabins have fixed windows at the lowest fares, and two single cabins serve solo travelers.
What is included in the fare on Amadeus Provence?
All meals, wine, draft beer, soda, coffee and tea with lunch and dinner, a welcome reception and gala dinner, afternoon tea, Wi-Fi, gratuities, port and lock fees, e-bike use, lectures and onboard entertainment. Excursions are extra, sold as discounted packages before departure or individually on board. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where Amadeus allows it, not available when you book direct.
Is Amadeus Provence good for families?
It is an adult-oriented ship. Amadeus provides no kids facilities or programs, children 14 and under need the line’s approval before booking, and guests 17 and under must share a cabin with a responsible adult who signs a waiver. Older teens who enjoy cycling, Roman ruins and markets can do well on the Lyon round trip.
