About Avalon Vista

Avalon Vista followed Avalon Panorama into service in 2012 as the second Suite Ship and its near-identical sister: 443 feet, four decks, 83 staterooms and 166 guests with a crew of 47. The two ships share the layout that defined Avalon’s European fleet, with Panorama Suites on the Royal and Sapphire decks, Deluxe Staterooms on the Indigo Deck and a Sky Deck that runs most of the ship’s length.

Every Panorama Suite is 200 square feet with the Open-Air Balcony, a wall of glass that slides open seven feet wide, and a Comfort Collection bed set to face the river. Meals are in the glass-walled Panorama Dining Room with wine and beer included at lunch and dinner, with the Panorama Bistro, Sky Grill and Sky Bistro as lighter options and a 24-hour Club Lounge for coffee and games.

Avalon Vista works the Rhine, Main and Danube in 2026 and 2027. It sails the eight-day Romantic Rhine from Amsterdam to Basel through 2027, Christmastime on the Danube cruises between Nuremberg and Vienna in late 2026, and in late 2027 moves to the Rhine and Main for Christmastime in Alsace & Germany from Basel to Frankfurt and Christmastime in the Heart of Germany. It suits couples who want Avalon’s all-suite style on the classic Rhine or a festive winter cruise.

Panorama Suites fill the two upper stateroom decks, Deluxe Staterooms are on the lowest deck and the Sky Deck on top runs nearly the length of the ship.
Where does Avalon Vista sail in 2026 and 2027?
Through 2026 and 2027 Avalon Vista sails the eight-day Romantic Rhine from Amsterdam to Basel. In November and December 2026 it moves to the Danube for Christmastime on the Danube cruises between Nuremberg and Vienna, including versions with two nights in Prague. In the 2027 holiday season it sails Christmastime in Alsace & Germany from Basel to Frankfurt and Christmastime in the Heart of Germany on the Main.
What is the difference between Avalon Vista and Avalon Panorama?
Very little. They are sister ships of the same length, deck count and capacity, both with two full decks of 200-square-foot Panorama Suites. Avalon Panorama launched in 2011 and Avalon Vista a year later. The practical difference is where they sail: in 2026 and 2027 Avalon Panorama stays mostly on the Rhine while Avalon Vista splits its year between the Rhine and the Danube.
Which staterooms are best on Avalon Vista?
The Panorama Suites on the Royal and Sapphire decks are the reason to choose an Avalon ship: 200 square feet, the Open-Air Balcony window and a bed facing the river. The Royal Deck is closest to the lounge and Sky Deck. Deluxe Staterooms on the Indigo Deck are 172 square feet with fixed windows and cost less. The Royal Suites are 300 square feet with a king bed and half-bath.
What is included in the fare on Avalon Vista?
All meals, wine, beer and soft drinks with lunch and dinner, sparkling wine at breakfast, a daily happy hour, 24-hour coffee and tea in the Club Lounge, Starlink Wi-Fi, bikes and e-bikes, and a choice of Classic, Discovery or Active excursions at each stop. Gratuities, drinks outside those times and optional excursions are extra. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where Avalon allows it, not available when you book direct.
What are the Christmas-market cruises on Avalon Vista like?
They run in late November and December when the Danube, Rhine and Main towns open their markets. The 2026 Christmastime on the Danube cruises sail between Nuremberg and Vienna with stops at Regensburg, Passau and Melk; the 2027 program covers Basel to Frankfurt via Breisach and Strasbourg and the Main towns of Germany. Days are shorter and colder, so pack layers, and the included excursions focus on the markets themselves.
