About Carnival Spirit

Carnival Spirit launched the Spirit Class in April 2001, built by Kvaerner Masa-Yards in Helsinki. She is 88,500 gross tons and 963 feet long with 12 decks, 2,134 guests and 930 crew, and the class design puts a balcony on most outside staterooms. A month-long dry dock in early 2025 returned her to service in Barcelona in March with a refreshed look and the new Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge.

The Empire Restaurant serves the three-course dinners and the Lido Restaurant handles the buffet, with Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, Pizza Pirate, Swirls and the Sweet Spot included. Nouveau Steakhouse, Bonsai Sushi, Seafood Shack and the Chef’s Table are the specialty options. Up top is WaterWorks with the Green Thunder slide, a domed pool for cool weather, a mini golf course, a jogging track and a two-deck fitness center, plus Serenity for adults.

Carnival Spirit splits each year between two home ports. Summer 2026 was Alaska from Seattle, followed by a 16-day Panama Canal cruise on October 8, 2026 to Mobile, Alabama, where she sails six- to eight-day Bahamas cruises to Celebration Key, Nassau, Bimini, Key West and Princess Cays or RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay through March 2027. After two Carnival Journeys from Mobile she returns to Seattle via a 15-day Hawaii cruise on April 14, 2027 for 20 seven-day Alaska cruises from April 29, 2027.

Carnival Spirit questions we answer every day

How big is Carnival Spirit?
Carnival Spirit is 88,500 gross tons and 963 feet long with 12 decks. Carnival lists her at 2,134 guests with 930 crew. She was the first Spirit Class ship when she entered service in 2001, and the class was sized to fit the Panama Canal, which is how she moves between Seattle and Mobile each spring and fall.
Where does Carnival Spirit sail in 2026 and 2027?
She sailed Alaska from Seattle in summer 2026, then left on October 8, 2026 on a 16-day Panama Canal cruise to Mobile. From October 2026 to March 2027 she sails six- to eight-day Bahamas cruises from Mobile, followed by a nine-day Western Caribbean Journeys cruise on March 20, 2027 and a 16-day canal crossing on March 29. From April 29, 2027 she runs 20 seven-day Alaska cruises from Seattle.
What ports do the Mobile cruises visit?
Every Mobile sailing calls at Celebration Key, Carnival’s Grand Bahama destination. Six-day cruises add Nassau, Bimini or Princess Cays depending on the departure; seven-day cruises add Key West plus Nassau and either RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay or Princess Cays; and eight-day cruises visit Key West, Celebration Key, Nassau and either Half Moon Cay or Princess Cays.
Which staterooms are the best choice on Carnival Spirit?
Most outside rooms on the Spirit Class have a balcony, and for Alaska that is the room to book: Extended Balcony and Aft-View Extended Balcony rooms give the most outdoor space for glacier days. On a Mobile Bahamas cruise an Interior or Ocean View room is fine. Vista Suites with wraparound balconies are the top scenic pick.
What is included in the fare on Carnival Spirit?
The Empire Restaurant, the Lido Restaurant buffet, Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, Pizza Pirate, Swirls, the Sweet Spot, Playlist Productions, the Punchliner Comedy Club, WaterWorks, mini golf, the pools and Camp Ocean are included. Nouveau Steakhouse, Bonsai Sushi, Seafood Shack, the Chef’s Table, the Coffee Bar, bar drinks, Wi-Fi, the casino and spa treatments are extra.
Is Carnival Spirit a good Alaska ship?
Yes, for a mainstream cruise. Her balcony-heavy layout, a domed pool that stays warm in cool weather, a two-deck fitness center and the Serenity retreat suit a scenic week, and the seven-day Seattle loops cover Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, Tracy Arm and Victoria. The Alaska season runs May through September, with the Panama Canal and Hawaii crossings as bonus long voyages.
