About Norwegian Aqua

Norwegian Aqua debuted in April 2025 as the first ship in the Prima Plus Class, a stretched and taller evolution of Norwegian Prima and Viva. At 1,056 feet and 156,300 gross tons it is about 10 percent larger than the first two Prima ships and carries 3,571 guests at double occupancy with a crew of 1,597, which Norwegian says is the highest staffing level of any new contemporary ship. The Ocean Boulevard promenade, Infinity Beach and Oceanwalk glass bridges carry over from the Prima design.

The headline attraction is the Aqua Slidecoaster, the first hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide at sea, next to The Drop ten-deck free-fall slide and the Glow Court, an LED-floored digital sports complex that becomes a club at night. Dining adds Sukhothai, Norwegian’s first Thai specialty restaurant, alongside Cagney’s, Onda by Scarpetta, Palomar, Nama, Hasuki and Le Bistro, plus a complimentary Indulge Food Hall with the plant-based Planterie counter. Shows include Revolution: A Celebration of Prince and Elements: The World Expanded.

In 2026 Norwegian Aqua spends the summer sailing five to eight night Bermuda cruises from New York with multi-day stays at the Royal Naval Dockyard, then returns to Miami for winter 2026 to 2027 Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings of seven and eight nights. In 2027 it sails weeklong Caribbean cruises from Miami on Sundays, with new calls in Falmouth and George Town, before moving to Port Canaveral for seven-day Western Caribbean cruises from October 2027. It suits families and couples who want Norwegian’s newest thrills.

Norwegian Aqua questions we answer every day

How big is Norwegian Aqua?
Norwegian Aqua is 156,300 gross tons and 1,056 feet long with 16 guest decks, carrying 3,571 guests at double occupancy and a crew of 1,597. It is about 10 percent larger than Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva, with the extra length used for the Aqua Slidecoaster, the Glow Court, more suites and larger bathrooms in standard staterooms.
What is the Prima Plus Class?
Prima Plus is Norwegian’s stretched version of the Prima Class. Norwegian Aqua was first in 2025, Norwegian Luna followed in 2026 and the larger Norwegian Aura arrives in 2027. The ships keep the Ocean Boulevard promenade, Indulge Food Hall and aft Haven complex but swap the go-kart track for the Aqua Slidecoaster and add the Glow Court digital sports complex.
Where does Norwegian Aqua sail in 2026 and 2027?
Through September 2026 Norwegian Aqua sails five to eight night Bermuda cruises from New York with overnight stays at the Royal Naval Dockyard. For winter 2026 to 2027 it returns to Miami for seven and eight night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises, continues weeklong Caribbean cruises from Miami in 2027 with new calls in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, and moves to Port Canaveral for Sunday Western Caribbean departures from October 2027.
Which staterooms are best on Norwegian Aqua?
Balcony staterooms and Club Balcony Suites are the best fit for most guests, and the Prima Plus design gives them larger bathrooms than Prima and Viva. Solo travelers should book a Studio with the private Studio Lounge. For the top tier, The Haven adds butler service, private elevators, its own restaurant and infinity pool, and a new three-bedroom Duplex Suite.
What is included in the fare on Norwegian Aqua?
The fare includes Hudson’s, The Commodore Room, the Indulge Food Hall, Surfside Café & Grill and the 24-hour Local Bar & Grill, plus theater shows, the Slidecoaster, The Drop, pools and Splash Academy. Specialty restaurants such as Sukhothai, drinks and Wi-Fi are extra unless covered by Free at Sea. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where Norwegian allows it, something you will not get booking direct.
Is Norwegian Aqua good for families?
Very. The Aqua Slidecoaster, The Drop, the kids’ aqua park, Glow Court and the Aqua Game Zone arcade are designed for the whole family, and Splash Academy and Entourage cover ages 3 to 17 with complimentary programming. Family staterooms sleep up to four, and the Indulge Food Hall and buffet keep mealtimes easy. Short Bermuda and Caribbean itineraries suit first-time cruising families.
