About Norwegian Epic

Norwegian Epic is a one-of-a-kind ship in the Norwegian fleet and, at 155,873 gross tons with 4,070 guests at double occupancy, one of its largest. It debuted in 2010 as the first ship with The Haven by Norwegian, the private suite complex with its own courtyard pool, and the first with Studio staterooms for solo travelers. Guest decks run from Deck 5 to Deck 19 and the crew numbers 1,724.

A 2025 dry dock refreshed the top deck with a new hot tub on Deck 18, a redesigned Kids’ Aqua Park and an expanded adults-only Vibe Beach Club with more loungers and private cabanas, and added eight new balcony and oceanview staterooms. Epic keeps its signature thrills: the 200-foot Epic Plunge bowl slide, a full bowling alley, a climbing wall, the Ice Bar and the Spice H2O adults-only beach club at the stern.

Epic splits 2026 and 2027 between Europe and Florida. From May through October it sails seven-day Western Mediterranean cruises between Barcelona and Rome (Civitavecchia), with calls such as Naples, Florence, Nice and Palma. From November 2026 through March 2027 it sails seven and eight-day Caribbean and Bahamas cruises from Port Canaveral, with Great Stirrup Cay on many itineraries. It suits families, groups and anyone who wants big-ship variety.

Norwegian Epic questions we answer every day

How big is Norwegian Epic?
Norwegian Epic is 155,873 gross tons and 1,081 feet long, with guest decks from Deck 5 to Deck 19. It carries 4,070 guests at double occupancy with a crew of 1,724, making it one of the largest ships in the Norwegian fleet. It is a one-ship class, built in 2010, and was the first Norwegian ship to feature The Haven and Studio staterooms.
When was Norwegian Epic last refurbished?
Epic completed a three-week dry dock in France in May 2025. Norwegian added a new hot tub on Deck 18, a redesigned Kids’ Aqua Park in place of the old SplashGolf course, an expanded Vibe Beach Club replacing Posh Beach Club with more loungers and private cabanas, and eight new balcony and oceanview staterooms. The Haven suites were renovated in earlier refits.
Where does Norwegian Epic sail in 2026 and 2027?
From May through October, Epic sails seven-day Western Mediterranean cruises between Barcelona and Rome (Civitavecchia). In November 2026 it crosses the Atlantic to Port Canaveral for seven and eight-day Caribbean and Bahamas cruises through March 2027, visiting ports such as Great Stirrup Cay, Montego Bay, George Town and Cozumel, before returning to Europe for the 2027 Mediterranean season.
Which staterooms are best on Norwegian Epic?
Solo cruisers should look at the Studios with their private lounge. Families do well in family balcony staterooms or the 2-Bedroom Family Villas in The Haven. For the most space and service, The Haven Courtyard Penthouses and Deluxe Owner’s Suites include butler service, the courtyard pool and private restaurant. Spa Balcony staterooms are a good pick for Thermal Suite fans.
What is included in the fare on Norwegian Epic?
Your fare covers The Manhattan Room and Taste main dining rooms, Garden Café, The Great Outdoors, O’Sheehan’s, Shanghai’s Noodle Bar, the production shows, Aqua Park, bowling, climbing wall and Splash Academy. Specialty restaurants carry a cover charge and drinks and Wi-Fi are extra unless packaged. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where Norwegian allows it, something you will not get booking direct.
Is Norwegian Epic good for families?
Yes. Epic has Splash Academy and Entourage youth programs, a kids-only Recess area, the redesigned Kids’ Aqua Park, the Epic Plunge slide, bowling, a climbing wall and a basketball court. Family balcony staterooms and the 2-Bedroom Family Villas in The Haven keep larger parties together, and Port Canaveral is an easy drive-to port for Florida and Southeast families.
