About Pride of America

Pride of America is the only U.S.-flagged cruise ship, which lets it sail round trip from Honolulu every Saturday without a foreign port call. The seven-day itinerary visits four islands and five ports with no sea days: Kahului on Maui, Hilo and Kona on the Big Island, and an overnight at Nawiliwili on Kauai. At 80,439 gross tons it carries 2,180 guests at double occupancy with a U.S. crew of 927 across guest decks 4 through 14.

A May 2025 dry dock added a Starbucks in the Capitol Atrium on Deck 5, a pickleball court in the sports area, 12 new Club Balcony Suites and three inside staterooms on Deck 12, and moved the Splash Academy and Entourage youth clubs to Deck 6. The ship’s Americana theme runs through the Liberty and Skyline main dining rooms, the Cadillac Diner, Jefferson’s Bistro, Pink’s Champagne Bar and the Mardi Gras Cabaret Lounge, and the Aloha Polynesia show brings island culture on board.

Because the ship is in port almost every day, often late into the evening, it works like a floating hotel: you unpack once and see Maui, the Big Island and Kauai without inter-island flights, with the Napali Coast sail-by on the final day. It sails Hawaii year-round in 2026 and 2027 and suits first-time Hawaii visitors, multigenerational families and anyone who wants maximum island time with none of the packing.

Pride of America questions we answer every day

How big is Pride of America?
Pride of America is 80,439 gross tons and 921 feet long, with guest decks from Deck 4 to Deck 14. It carries 2,180 guests at double occupancy with a crew of 927. Built in 2005 with its hull constructed in Pascagoula, Mississippi, it is the only U.S.-flagged cruise ship and sits in its own class within the Norwegian fleet.
Why is Pride of America the only ship that sails Hawaii year-round?
Because it is U.S.-flagged and U.S.-crewed, Pride of America can sail between U.S. ports without stopping at a foreign port, which other cruise ships must do. That allows a seven-day round trip from Honolulu that visits four islands and five ports with no sea days, something no foreign-flagged ship can offer. It sails every Saturday, year-round.
What ports does Pride of America visit?
The seven-day itinerary sails from Honolulu to Kahului on Maui for an overnight, then Hilo and Kona on the Big Island, followed by an overnight at Nawiliwili on Kauai, with scenic cruising along the Napali Coast before returning to Honolulu. There are no sea days, and long port stays leave time for Haleakala, volcano and waterfall excursions and the road to Hana.
When was Pride of America last refurbished?
Pride of America completed a dry dock in May 2025. Norwegian added a Starbucks in the Capitol Atrium on Deck 5, a pickleball court, 12 new Club Balcony Suites and three inside staterooms on Deck 12, relocated Splash Academy and Entourage to Deck 6 and created a new library and card room. The ship also carries Starlink high-speed internet.
What is included in the fare on Pride of America?
Your fare covers the Liberty and Skyline dining rooms, Aloha Café buffet, the 24-hour Cadillac Diner, Key West grill, the Aloha Polynesia show and lounge entertainment, both pools, the fitness center and Splash Academy. Specialty restaurants carry a cover charge, and drinks and Wi-Fi are extra unless packaged. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where Norwegian allows it, something you will not get booking direct.
Which staterooms are best on Pride of America?
A balcony is worth it on this ship for the island arrivals and the Napali Coast sail-by, and the 12 new Club Balcony Suites on Deck 12 add a sitting area and perks. Families should look at Family Balconies and the 2-Bedroom Family Suites. Solo travelers have Studio staterooms with a private lounge, and the Deluxe Owner’s Suites and Grand Suites offer the most space with butler service.
