About S.S. São Gabriel
S.S. São Gabriel is Uniworld’s Super Ship for Portugal’s Douro, built in 2020 and inaugurated in 2021. At 262 feet and 37 feet wide, sized for the Douro’s locks, she carries 98 guests in 49 staterooms and suites with a staff of 37. Uniworld says she embodies the Douro Valley like no other ship in the region: azulejo tilework, polished wood and a summery palette bring Portugal on board, and a sundeck pool looks out over the terraced vineyards.
She suits travelers who want the Douro’s port lodges and quintas with the comforts of the Super Ship fleet. An entire deck is given over to Grand Suites and Suites with butler service, and three dining venues serve the wine and cuisine of the valley. Every room has the Uniworld signature Savoir bed, marble bathroom and Asprey amenities; 20 French Balcony and four 307-square-foot Grand Suites lead the categories, with Classic rooms as the entry point.
S.S. São Gabriel sails round trip from Porto. Her 2026-2027 program is the 8-day Douro River Valley cruise to Régua, Pinhão, Barca d’Alva for Salamanca and Vega de Terrón, the 11-day Portugal, Spain & the Douro River Valley with a Lisbon hotel stay, the 20-day Cruise & Tour Discover Portugal & Spain from Madrid, and the Douro half of Wine Roads of France & Portugal with S.S. Bon Voyage. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where Uniworld allows it, not available booking direct.
