Viking Vega: ship guide
Announced for 2028: a 998-guest all-veranda sister ship for Europe.
Best for: Travelers 18 and over planning well ahead who want to be among the first aboard a new Viking ship in the Mediterranean or Northern Europe. Sails from Barcelona, Rome (Civitavecchia), Venice (Chioggia) in 2026 and 2027.

About Viking Vega
Viking Vega is one of two ocean ships Viking named in summer 2026 when it opened bookings for 2028-2029. Viking lists her delivery as 2028, ahead of sister Viking Leda in 2029, with both being built by Fincantieri in Italy. She follows the 998-guest design that began with Viking Vela: about 54,300 gross tons, 784 feet long and 101 feet wide, with 499 staterooms, every one with a private veranda. Viking classifies her, like its whole ocean fleet, as a small ship.
Her onboard experience will mirror her sisters: no casino, no guest under 18, no inside cabin and no formal night. The fare includes one shore excursion in every port, all restaurants from The Restaurant and World Café to Manfredi’s and The Chef’s Table, beer and wine with lunch and dinner, Wi-Fi and the Nordic Spa thermal suite. Scandinavian design runs from the two-deck Explorers’ Lounge at the bow to the Infinity Pool at the stern.
Viking has described the ship’s inaugural program only in broad terms, with voyages in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. The itineraries Viking lists for her include Barcelona to Rome (Civitavecchia) and Rome to Venice (Chioggia), and cruise press reports a first summer in the Mediterranean before a move to the British Isles. Viking Vega suits travelers who like to be first aboard a new ship and are planning two or three years ahead.
