About Viking Vesta

Viking Vesta was handed over by Fincantieri in Ancona, Italy, on June 26, 2025, the second ship in Viking’s 998-guest series after Viking Vela. She measures about 54,300 gross tons, 784 feet long and 101 feet across, with 499 staterooms, every one with a private veranda. Viking says she was built so she can be retrofitted with newer propulsion technology as it matures, and classifies her, like all its ocean ships, as a small ship.

Life on board follows the Viking formula: no casino, no children under 18, no inside cabins and no formal nights. One shore excursion in every port, all restaurants, beer and wine with lunch and dinner, Wi-Fi and the Nordic Spa thermal suite are included. Public spaces run from the two-deck Explorers’ Lounge at the bow to the Infinity Pool at the stern, with the Living Room, Wintergarden, Torshavn and a 450-seat theater in between.

Through spring 2027 Viking Vesta works the Mediterranean from Barcelona, Rome (Civitavecchia), Venice, Athens (Piraeus) and Istanbul. In late May 2027 she sails to Reykjavik and spends the summer in Northern Europe between Bergen, London, Stockholm and Belfast before returning south for the fall. In late December 2027 she departs Fort Lauderdale on Viking’s 142-night 2027-2028 World Cruise, and she is scheduled to sail the 2028-2029 World Cruise as well.

Viking Vesta questions we answer every day

How big is Viking Vesta?
Viking Vesta is about 54,300 gross tons, 784 feet long and 101 feet wide, with 499 staterooms for 998 guests at double occupancy. She is a sister to Viking Vela and part of the slightly larger series that followed Viking’s original 930-guest ocean ships; Viking still classes her as a small ship.
Is Viking Vesta adults only?
Yes. No guests under 18 sail on Viking ocean ships, and there is no casino, no children’s facilities and no inside staterooms. Evenings center on the theater, Torshavn, the Explorers’ Lounge and the Living Room rather than production shows and nightclubs.
What does the fare include on Viking Vesta?
A veranda stateroom, one shore excursion in every port, all dining venues including Manfredi’s and The Chef’s Table, beer and wine with lunch and dinner, Wi-Fi, 24-hour room service, the Nordic Spa thermal suite and self-service laundry. Optional excursions, premium drinks, spa treatments and the Kitchen Table cooking school are extra.
Where does Viking Vesta sail in 2026 and 2027?
Through May 2027 she sails the Mediterranean between Barcelona, Rome, Venice, Athens and Istanbul. From late May she crosses to Reykjavik and spends summer 2027 in Northern Europe from Bergen, London, Stockholm and Belfast. She returns to the Mediterranean in October, then leaves Fort Lauderdale in late December 2027 on the 142-night World Cruise.
Which staterooms are best on Viking Vesta?
Veranda and Deluxe Veranda rooms share the same 288 square feet, with the Deluxe category booking excursions and specialty dining earlier. Penthouse Veranda rooms give 360 square feet. For a long voyage such as the World Cruise, Penthouse Junior Suites at 432 square feet and the aft Explorer Suites with wraparound verandas are the ones to consider.
What is the Viking World Cruise on Viking Vesta?
Viking has assigned Viking Vesta to its 2027-2028 World Cruise, a 142-night voyage departing Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale in late December 2027 and visiting 62 destinations in 31 countries, and to the 2028-2029 World Cruise, 142 days from Fort Lauderdale on December 21, 2028 to London on May 12, 2029. Shorter segments of each voyage can also be booked.
