Zuiderdam was the first Vista Class ship, delivered by Fincantieri in December 2002, and the largest ship Holland America had built at the time. At 82,318 gross tons it carries 1,964 guests at double occupancy with a crew of about 812. A December 2025 dry dock added 11 ocean-view staterooms for a total of 993, put a bandstand stage in the Crow’s Nest, rebuilt the Deck 8 verandah bathrooms and renewed carpets and upholstery through the staterooms and restaurants.
The ship follows the classic Holland America plan: a two-level Dining Room, Lido Market, Dive-In grill and a Lido Pool under a retractable roof, with Pinnacle Grill, Canaletto and Morimoto By Sea as specialty options and the World Stage, Rolling Stone Lounge and Billboard Onboard at night. Zuiderdam is the second ship in the Holland America Evolution program and will be reimagined in spring 2028 with Bridgeview Suites, Solo Verandahs, Vista Suites and a 1,550 sq ft Pinnacle Suite.
Zuiderdam finishes its 2026 Canada and New England season from Boston and Quebec in October, then sails 7, 10 and 11 day Western, Eastern and Southern Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale and Miami through spring 2027. It crosses the Atlantic to Amsterdam for a summer of Norway, Iceland and Northern Europe voyages from Amsterdam and Reykjavik, returns to the Caribbean for winter 2027 to 2028 and crosses to Barcelona in February 2028 ahead of its Evolution yard period. It suits traditional cruisers who like a mid-sized ship and longer itineraries.
