About Liberty of the Seas

Liberty of the Seas is a Freedom Class ship that entered service in 2007 and came out of a Royal Amplified dry dock in spring 2026 with a reimagined Caribbean-style pool deck, The Lime & Coconut bar, rentable casitas, Izumi Teppanyaki, El Loco Fresh, a new Starbucks, an expanded Casino Royale, a Royal Escape Room and additional staterooms. At roughly 154,000 gross tons she carries 3,798 guests at double occupancy across 14 guest decks, so she feels big without the crowds of an Oasis Class ship.

Her signature is the water. Liberty carries three waterslides: the dueling Typhoon and Cyclone racers of The Perfect Storm plus Tidal Wave, the boomerang-style slide that is unique to this ship, alongside the Splashaway Bay kids’ aqua park and a FlowRider surf simulator. Add the Studio B ice rink, a rock climbing wall, Liberty Dunes mini golf and a sports court, and families with active kids and teens have plenty to fill a four or five night sailing.

For 2026 Liberty spends the summer in Southampton on Norwegian Fjords, Northern Europe and Spain and Portugal cruises, then returns to Galveston at the end of October 2026 for year-round 4 and 5 night Western Caribbean sailings to Cozumel and Costa Maya through 2027 and into 2028. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on Liberty sailings where Royal Caribbean allows it, which you will not get booking direct.

  • The Perfect Storm dueling racer slides Typhoon and Cyclone
  • 2026 amplification: new pool deck, The Lime & Coconut, casitas and Starbucks

  • Saturday Night Fever and In the Air in the Royal Theater
  • Royal Promenade parades, shopping and pubs

Liberty of the Seas questions we answer every day

How big is Liberty of the Seas?
Liberty of the Seas is a Freedom Class ship of about 154,407 gross tons and 1,112 feet in length. Royal Caribbean lists 3,798 guests at double occupancy, up to 4,960 guests in total, and about 1,360 crew across 14 guest decks. That makes her mid-sized by Royal Caribbean standards: bigger than the Voyager Class ships but smaller than the Oasis and Icon Class.
What was added to Liberty of the Seas in 2026?
The spring 2026 Royal Amplified dry dock brought a redesigned Caribbean-themed pool deck with The Lime & Coconut bar and rentable casitas, Izumi Teppanyaki, El Loco Fresh, a new Starbucks, an expanded Casino Royale, the Royal Escape Room concept and additional staterooms including family rooms near Adventure Ocean. The Tidal Wave, Typhoon and Cyclone slides, FlowRider and Splashaway Bay all stay.
Where does Liberty of the Seas sail in 2026 and 2027?
Summer 2026 is spent in Southampton on Norwegian Fjords, Northern Europe and Spain and Portugal cruises, including an August 2026 solar eclipse sailing. From the end of October 2026 she is based in Galveston, Texas, sailing 4-night Western Caribbean cruises to Cozumel and 5-night cruises to Costa Maya and Cozumel through 2027 and into 2028.
Which staterooms are best on Liberty of the Seas?
Balcony rooms midship on Decks 7 to 10 are the easy choice for most couples. Families on a budget should look at the Ultra Spacious Ocean View rooms that sleep up to six, or Promenade View interiors that give you a window onto the Royal Promenade. Larger families can book connecting balconies or the four-bedroom Family Villa Suite, which sleeps up to 14.
What is included in the fare on Liberty of the Seas?
The Main Dining Room, Windjammer buffet, Café Promenade, Sorrento’s pizza, El Loco Fresh and soft-serve are all included, along with the production shows, ice show, waterslides, FlowRider, rock climbing wall, mini golf, pools, Solarium and Adventure Ocean kids’ club. Specialty restaurants, Starbucks, alcohol, the escape room, spa treatments and the nursery cost extra.
Is Liberty of the Seas good for kids?
Yes. Liberty is one of the better Royal Caribbean ships for families outside the Oasis and Icon Class, with three waterslides, the Splashaway Bay aqua park, a FlowRider, ice skating, mini golf, a sports court, an escape room and the Adventure Ocean program split by age. Short 4 and 5 night Galveston sailings suit first-time cruisers with younger children.
