About Quantum of the Seas

Quantum of the Seas launched in November 2014 as the first of Royal Caribbean’s Quantum Class, a 168,666 gross ton ship built for cooler-weather cruising with most of its big attractions indoors. It introduced the North Star observation capsule that lifts guests 300 feet above the sea, the RipCord by iFLY skydiving simulator, the SeaPlex indoor sports arena with bumper cars and the Two70 lounge where floor-to-ceiling windows become a video wall for the Starwater show at night.

With 2,094 staterooms and 4,180 guests at double occupancy, Quantum is noticeably smaller than an Oasis Class ship but still packs in a FlowRider, rock climbing wall, laser tag, Bionic Bar robot bartenders and a wide specialty dining lineup led by Jamie’s Italian, Wonderland and Chops Grille. Interior staterooms with virtual balconies and a large number of balcony cabins make it a comfortable ship for longer voyages.

Quantum of the Seas is a true globetrotter in 2026 and 2027. It sails Mexican Riviera and Baja cruises from Los Angeles through September 2026, crosses the Pacific on a 25 night voyage to Australia, then spends October 2026 to April 2027 sailing from Brisbane to the South Pacific and Queensland coast. Summer 2027 brings 7 night Alaska round trips from Seattle before the ship takes up a Singapore homeport from October 2027.

Quantum of the Seas questions we answer every day

How big is Quantum of the Seas?
Quantum of the Seas is 168,666 gross tons and 1,141 feet long with 14 guest decks out of 16 total. It carries 4,180 guests at double occupancy in 2,094 staterooms with a crew of about 1,500. It is a mid-to-large ship by Royal Caribbean standards, smaller than the Oasis Class but with many of the same headline attractions.
Where does Quantum of the Seas sail in 2026 and 2027?
Quantum sails Mexican Riviera and Baja cruises from Los Angeles until late September 2026, then makes a 25 night trans-Pacific crossing to Brisbane via Catalina Island, Hawaii and French Polynesia. From Brisbane it runs 3 to 8 night South Pacific and Queensland cruises until April 2027, sails Alaska from Seattle in summer 2027, and starts a Singapore season in October 2027.
What makes Quantum Class different from Oasis Class?
Quantum Class ships are built around indoor venues: the SeaPlex sports arena, the Two70 showroom, an indoor pool and the Solarium. Signature attractions are the North Star capsule, RipCord by iFLY skydiving and the Bionic Bar. There is no Central Park, Boardwalk or AquaTheater, and the ship holds about 1,400 fewer guests, so it feels calmer.
Which staterooms are best on Quantum of the Seas?
Balcony staterooms are plentiful and worth it for scenic days in Alaska, the South Pacific and on the trans-Pacific crossing. Interior staterooms have virtual balconies with a live sea view, which makes them a better value than a standard inside cabin. For families, Grand Suites and the two-level loft suites add space and Royal Suite Class perks.
What is included in the fare on Quantum of the Seas?
The Main Dining Room, Windjammer, Café @ Two70, Solarium Bistro, Sorrento’s, Café Promenade and the SeaPlex Dog House are included, as are the Two70 and Royal Theater shows, North Star rides on most sailings, the FlowRider, SeaPlex activities and Adventure Ocean. Specialty restaurants, drinks and Wi-Fi are extra. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where Royal Caribbean allows it, not available booking direct.
Is RipCord by iFLY available on every Quantum of the Seas sailing?
RipCord by iFLY is one of the ship’s signature attractions, but Royal Caribbean has at times listed it as out of service, and weather can close it along with the North Star. Reservations open in the Royal Caribbean app once onboard. Ask your SmartCruiser consultant to check the status for your specific sailing before you book.
