About Star of the Seas

Star of the Seas is the second Icon Class ship, delivered by Meyer Turku in July 2025 and sailing from Port Canaveral since August 16, 2025. She shares her sister’s dimensions: 248,663 gross tons, 20 decks, 2,805 staterooms and 5,610 guests at double occupancy, organized into eight neighborhoods including Thrill Island, Chill Island, Surfside, Central Park, the AquaDome, the Royal Promenade, the adults-only Hideaway and the Suite Neighborhood.

What sets Star apart is the entertainment and dining lineup. Back to the Future: The Musical plays in the Royal Theater, Torque in the AquaTheater and SOL on the Absolute Zero ice, and the Lincoln Park Supper Club recreates 1930s Chicago over an eight-course dinner. The AquaDome Market food hall brings five stalls, and 17 restaurants are included in the fare. Families with young children get the full Surfside neighborhood.

For 2026 and 2027 Star of the Seas is based year-round at Port Canaveral near Orlando, sailing 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries that pair ports such as Philipsburg, Charlotte Amalie, Cozumel and Roatan with a day at Perfect Day at CocoCay. It is the natural pick for families combining a theme-park stay with a week at sea.

  • Category 6 waterpark with six slides, including two family raft slides and the 46-foot Frightening Bolt drop slide
  • Seven pools and ten whirlpools, including Royal Bay and the suspended Hideaway infinity pool
  • Back to the Future: The Musical, the first production of the show at sea

  • Crown’s Edge overwater obstacle course 154 feet above the sea
  • The Pearl, a kinetic art sphere linking two decks of the Royal Promenade

Star of the Seas questions we answer every day

How big is Star of the Seas?
Star of the Seas is 248,663 gross tons and about 1,196 feet long, with 20 decks, 18 of them for guests. She carries 5,610 guests at double occupancy, up to 7,600 at full capacity, with 2,350 international crew and 2,805 staterooms. She is a sister to Icon of the Seas and Royal Caribbean groups the Icon Class as the largest cruise ships in the world.
How is Star of the Seas different from Icon of the Seas?
The hull and neighborhoods are the same, so the difference is in the programming. Star has Back to the Future: The Musical, the Torque and SOL shows, the Lincoln Park Supper Club instead of Empire, new AquaDome Market stalls and a larger Celebration Table. She also sails from Port Canaveral rather than Miami.
Which staterooms should families book?
Family Infinite Ocean View Balcony rooms sleep six with a separate bunk space and split bathroom, which saves a second cabin. Surfside Family Suites put you right over the kids’ neighborhood. For big groups, the Ultimate Family Townhouse sleeps eight with its own slide and a patio onto Surfside.
What is included in the fare?
Seventeen dining venues are included, among them the Main Dining Room, Windjammer, Surfside Eatery, AquaDome Market, Basecamp, Sorrento’s, El Loco Fresh and Pearl Café, along with all shows, the waterpark, pools and most activities. Specialty restaurants, drinks packages and the spa are extra. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where the cruise line allows it, not available booking direct.
Where does Star of the Seas sail in 2026 and 2027?
She sails year-round from Port Canaveral on 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Eastern weeks typically visit Philipsburg and Charlotte Amalie; Western weeks call at Cozumel, Roatan and Costa Maya. Every sailing includes a day at Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.
Is Star of the Seas good for adults without kids?
Yes, with some planning. The Hideaway infinity pool and bar is adults only, Central Park is quiet and leafy, and Cloud 17 is an adults-only sun deck. The supper club, Chops Grille and the Overlook lounge in the AquaDome give grown-ups their own evenings while the family areas stay at the other end of the ship.
