About Emerald Princess

Emerald Princess is a Grand Class ship that entered service on April 11, 2007, a sister to Crown and Ruby Princess. At 113,561 gross tons with 1,539 staterooms and 3,080 guests at double occupancy she is noticeably smaller than the Royal Class ships, which many longtime Princess guests prefer: shorter walks, a classic Piazza atrium with the International Café and Vines, three main dining rooms and nearly 900 balcony staterooms.

Her signature is the Skywalkers Nightclub suspended high over the stern, with the adults-only Sanctuary, Movies Under the Stars, Club Fusion, the Explorers Lounge and the Princess Theater below. Dining adds Crown Grill, Sabatini’s, Planks BBQ, Steamers Seafood, O’Malley’s Irish Pub and the Chef’s Table to the included venues, and mini-suites and suites dine in the Reserve Collection area of the main dining room.

Emerald Princess is a West Coast ship for 2026 and 2027. Summers are spent in Alaska on 7 night Inside Passage cruises roundtrip from Vancouver with Glacier Bay or Endicott Arm, and from fall 2026 through spring 2027 she sails from Los Angeles on 7 night Mexican Riviera cruises, 15 and 16 night Hawaii roundtrips, California Coast getaways and two 16 night Alaska roundtrips. From November 2027 she opens Princess’s new Bridgetown, Barbados homeport with 6 to 9 night Southern Caribbean cruises.

Emerald Princess questions we answer every day

How big is Emerald Princess?
Emerald Princess is 113,561 gross tons, 951 feet long with 19 decks, and carries 3,080 guests at double occupancy in 1,539 staterooms with a crew of about 1,200. She is a Grand Class ship delivered in April 2007, a sister to Crown and Ruby Princess, and about a quarter smaller than Princess’s Royal Class ships.
Where does Emerald Princess sail in 2026 and 2027?
Summer 2026 and 2027 are 7 night Alaska Inside Passage cruises roundtrip from Vancouver with Glacier Bay or Endicott Arm. From fall 2026 to spring 2027 she sails from Los Angeles on 7 night Mexican Riviera cruises, 15 to 16 night Hawaii roundtrips, short California Coast cruises and two 16 night Alaska roundtrips. From November 2027 she sails 6 to 9 night Southern Caribbean cruises from Bridgetown, Barbados.
Which staterooms are best on Emerald Princess?
A balcony is worth it for Alaska and the long Hawaii sea days, and mini-suites with the Reserve Collection add a bathtub, sofa bed and exclusive dining. Oceanview staterooms are plentiful and good value, but check the deck plan for lifeboat obstructions. Interiors suit the short California Coast and Mexico runs.
What is included in the fare on Emerald Princess?
The three main dining rooms, World Fresh Marketplace, International Café, Slice, Salty Dog Grill, Coffee & Cones, afternoon tea, shows, pools, the fitness center and the youth centers are included. Crown Grill, Sabatini’s, Planks, Steamers, O’Malley’s, drinks and Wi-Fi are extra or bundled in Princess Plus or Premier. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where Princess allows it, something you will not get booking direct.
How does Emerald Princess compare with the newer Princess ships?
She is smaller and more traditional: no SeaWalk, no Sky Suites and no Sphere Class Piazza, but she has the aft-hanging Skywalkers Nightclub, a higher share of oceanview staterooms, the same Princess Luxury Bed, MedallionClass service and dining brands like Crown Grill and Sabatini’s. Many repeat guests choose her for the easier layout and the West Coast itineraries.
Is Emerald Princess good for families?
Yes on the summer Alaska sailings, with Camp Discovery kids and teen centers, Movies Under the Stars, four pools and two Family Suites that connect to sleep eight. The Hawaii and winter West Coast cruises are longer and quieter, with a mostly adult crowd.
