About Adventure of the Seas

Adventure of the Seas is a Voyager Class ship that entered service in 2001 and was revitalized in a $61 million 2016 dry dock that added the Typhoon and Cyclone racer waterslides, a FlowRider surf simulator, the Splashaway Bay aqua park, Izumi, Chops Grille, Boleros, a Suites Lounge and more than 100 new staterooms. At about 137,000 gross tons with 3,114 guests at double occupancy, she is the classic Royal Caribbean mid-size ship: a four-deck Royal Promenade, Studio B ice rink, rock climbing wall and mini golf, without the scale of the newer giants.

She is a strong fit for families and first-time cruisers who want the Royal Caribbean activity list at a lower fare than an Oasis Class ship, and for anyone who prefers a ship where you can learn the layout in an afternoon. Entertainment runs from ice shows and the Invitation to Dance, Jackpot and Can’t Stop the Rock productions to a Latin band at Boleros, a guest performer at the Duck and Dog Pub and bubbly at the Champagne Bar.

Adventure sails from Port Canaveral (Orlando) through October 2026 on 6 to 8 night Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean cruises, moves to Fort Lauderdale for winter 2026-27 weeklong Caribbean sailings, then returns to Port Canaveral from April 2027 for short Bahamas getaways and 6 to 9 night Caribbean cruises calling at Perfect Day at CocoCay, Nassau and Cozumel. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on her sailings where Royal Caribbean allows it, not available booking direct.

Adventure of the Seas questions we answer every day

How big is Adventure of the Seas?
Adventure of the Seas is a Voyager Class ship of 137,276 gross tons and 1,020 feet in length. Royal Caribbean’s fact sheet lists 3,114 guests at double occupancy, 3,807 guests in total, 1,185 crew, 14 guest decks and 1,557 staterooms. She is mid-sized for the fleet: smaller than the Freedom, Oasis and Icon Class ships but with the same Royal Promenade and ice rink layout.
Where does Adventure of the Seas sail in 2026 and 2027?
She sails from Port Canaveral, Orlando’s cruise port, on 6 to 8 night Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean cruises through October 2026, moves to Fort Lauderdale for weeklong Caribbean cruises in winter 2026-27, then returns to Port Canaveral from April 2027 for short Bahamas sailings and 6 to 9 night Caribbean cruises visiting Perfect Day at CocoCay, Nassau, Cozumel and the Eastern Caribbean.
When was Adventure of the Seas last refurbished?
Her last major refurbishment was the $61 million revitalization in late 2016, which added the Typhoon and Cyclone racer waterslides, FlowRider, Splashaway Bay, Izumi, Chops Grille, Boleros, a Suites Lounge, more than 100 new staterooms and a refresh of all existing rooms. She has had routine dry docks since, most recently in Europe in 2024, but no Royal Amplified upgrade.
Which staterooms are best on Adventure of the Seas?
Midship balconies on Decks 7 to 10 are the pick for most couples. Families can save with Ultra Spacious Ocean View rooms that sleep up to six, and solo travelers have dedicated Studio Interiors. Promenade View interiors with a window over the Royal Promenade are popular with people who like the buzz. Grand Suites and above include the Suites Lounge and concierge service.
What is included in the fare on Adventure of the Seas?
The Main Dining Room, Windjammer, Café Promenade and Sorrento’s are included, along with every show in the Royal Theater and Studio B, the waterslides, FlowRider, rock climbing wall, mini golf, sports court, pools, Solarium and Adventure Ocean. Chops Grille, Giovanni’s Table, Izumi, Johnny Rockets, Chef’s Table, alcohol, spa treatments and the arcade are extra.
Is Adventure of the Seas good for kids?
Yes, especially for younger children. The 2016 refit was built around families: the Typhoon and Cyclone slides, Splashaway Bay, a FlowRider, ice skating, mini golf and a rock wall, plus the complimentary Adventure Ocean program and a teen lounge. Short Bahamas sailings from Port Canaveral with a Perfect Day at CocoCay day are an easy first cruise with kids.
