About Grandeur of the Seas

Grandeur of the Seas is the oldest and smallest ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet, a Vision Class vessel built in Turku, Finland, that made her maiden voyage in December 1996. At 74,136 gross tons and 916 feet she carries 1,992 guests at double occupancy and 2,440 maximum with 760 crew. That scale means shorter lines, a quieter pool deck and the ability to dock in ports that cannot take the giants, which is why Royal Caribbean uses her for new Latin American homeports.

A May 2012 revitalization added Park Café, Giovanni’s Table, Chops Grille, Izumi, Chef’s Table, the R Bar, an LED outdoor movie screen, a nursery, Centrum aerial shows and Wi-Fi throughout. A month-long drydock at Grand Bahama Shipyard in spring 2024 completed technical work and fitted new carpets and upholstery in the public rooms. The glass Centrum, Viking Crown Lounge, three pools and six whirlpools give her more open-deck space per guest than many larger ships.

For 2026 to 2027 Grandeur sails seven-night Southern Caribbean cruises from Cartagena, Colombia, and Colón, Panama, calling at Aruba and Curaçao, with departures alternating between the two homeports. In late April 2027 she repositions to San Juan for a summer of weeklong Southern Caribbean cruises to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St. Lucia and Barbados, then returns to Latin America in November 2027.

  • Smallest and most intimate ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet
  • Rock climbing wall rising about 40 feet above deck
  • Adults-only Solarium pool with retractable glass roof
  • Three pools and six whirlpools
  • Palladium Theater with Broadway-style shows including Rhythm & Rhyme
  • LED outdoor movie screen and poolside DJ sets
  • Year-round Southern Caribbean itineraries from Panama, Colombia and San Juan
  • More than a dozen bars and restaurants including Izumi and Chef’s Table

Staterooms and suites

Interior

Interior staterooms are compact, generally 140 to 160 square feet, with twin beds that convert to a queen. They are the most numerous category and a budget-friendly way to see the Southern Caribbean.

Ocean View

Ocean View rooms run about 150 to 190 square feet with a picture window; with 380 of them, outside rooms are easy to find, and Ultra Spacious Ocean View rooms add space for families.

Balcony

Only about 122 staterooms have a balcony, mostly around 190 square feet with a roughly 40 square foot veranda, so they sell out early on scenic island routes.

Junior Suite

Junior Suites add a sitting area, bathtub, walk-in closet and larger balcony, plus Concierge Club access and priority boarding.

Suites

Grand Suites, Owner’s Suites and the Royal Suite of about 1,185 square feet with a 160 square foot terrace make up the top tier, with concierge service, reserved theater seating and the Concierge Club lounge.
