About Costa Toscana

Costa Toscana is Costa’s flagship and the largest ship ever built for the line, delivered by Meyer Turku in December 2021 and in service since March 2022. The second Excellence-class ship, she runs on liquefied natural gas like her sister Costa Smeralda and is styled as a floating tribute to Tuscany, with decks named for places such as Montepulciano, Bolgheri and Forte dei Marmi. Costa describes her as a smart city at sea, built around technology, comfort and lower emissions.

Costa counts 11 restaurants and 19 bars and lounges, the widest choice in its fleet: the 12-course Archipelago menu, the first Carlsberg Club & Bistro at sea, Ferrari Spazio Bollicine, the Campari Bar, Sushino Lounge, Teppanyaki, Pummid’Oro and the Food LAB cooking school. The three-deck Colosseo is the social heart, Piazza del Campo is a grand staircase over the wake, the Volare skywalk sits 65 meters above the water and the 4,500-square-meter Solemio Spa has a salt and snow room.

Costa Toscana sails the Western Mediterranean year-round through November 2027. Her weekly loops can be joined in Civitavecchia for Rome, Genoa or Savona, Marseille, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and Palermo, with calls that rotate between Cagliari, Naples, Ibiza, Valencia and La Goulette for Tunis depending on the season. She suits travelers who want a brand-new, very large Italian ship with no repositioning crossings and easy air into Rome, Barcelona or Marseille.

Staterooms and suites

Interior

Costa’s practical, minimalist cabin for guests who live on the pool decks and in the Colosseo; most sleep a third and fourth guest on a sofa bed or pull-down berths, which makes them the family value pick.

Ocean View

A large window frames a different Mediterranean port every morning; a bright choice for couples who want daylight without a balcony.

Balcony

Costa Toscana has about 1,550 balcony cabins, the majority of the 2,663 on board, each with a private veranda for breakfast outside; the natural pick for a seven-night loop with a port almost every day.

Terrace with sea view

An Excellence-class category that swaps the standard balcony for a larger step-out terrace facing the sea, sold between the balcony and suite grades.

Suites

Suites and Grand Suites with separate living areas, dressing rooms and large terraces, some with an in-cabin whirlpool tub; Costa suite guests receive a welcome bottle, a private butler, a reserved table every evening in the exclusive suite restaurant and other courtesies.

Costa Toscana questions we answer every day

How big is Costa Toscana?
Costa Toscana is 186,364 gross tons and about 1,106 feet long, with 2,663 staterooms, about 1,550 of them with balconies, and a crew of roughly 1,640. Capacity is about 5,300 guests at double occupancy and 6,554 at maximum. She is the largest ship ever built for Costa and the second of the two LNG-powered Excellence-class ships after Costa Smeralda.
Where does Costa Toscana sail in 2026 and 2027?
Costa Toscana stays in the Western Mediterranean year-round through November 2027. Weekly cruises can be joined in Civitavecchia, Genoa or Savona, Marseille, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca or Palermo, with calls that rotate between Cagliari, Naples, Ibiza, Valencia and La Goulette for Tunis. Costa cancelled the ship’s planned Middle East seasons, so there are no Dubai departures.
What makes Costa Toscana different from Costa Smeralda?
The two ships share the Excellence-class hull, LNG engines, Colosseo and skywalk, but Toscana is themed on Tuscany rather than all of Italy and arrived in 2022 with a few more cabins and newer venues, including the first Carlsberg Club & Bistro at sea, Ferrari Spazio Bollicine, the Campari Bar and the Sun Deck Private adults-only area. Costa markets Toscana as its flagship.
Which cabins are best on Costa Toscana?
With about 1,550 balcony cabins, a Balcony is the natural choice for a port-a-day Mediterranean week. The Terrace with sea view category adds a larger step-out terrace, and Suites bring a butler, a welcome bottle and a reserved table every evening in the exclusive suite restaurant. Interior cabins that sleep three or four keep family fares low.
What is included in the fare on Costa Toscana?
The fare covers the main restaurants, buffets, theater and Colosseo entertainment, pools, the Splash Aqua Park, the Squok Club and the Technogym gym. Costa adds a nightly service charge, and specialty restaurants such as Archipelago, the Carlsberg Club and Teppanyaki, drinks, Wi-Fi and spa treatments are extra unless packaged. SmartCruiser adds bonus onboard credit on sailings where Costa allows it, not available when you book direct.
Is Costa Toscana good for families?
Yes. Children 3 to 11 have the Squok Club, families with 3 to 6 year olds get the Squok Restaurant buffet, teens have their own club split 12 to 14 and 15 to 17, and the Splash Aqua Park has three slides and two kids’ pools. Interior and balcony cabins sleep up to four, and the Western Mediterranean loop gives children a new city almost every day.
